brutis Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I am trying to create a subdomain in cpanel and then redirect it to a specific IP address instead of a url. Is this possible in cpanel? So far on the redirection page I take out "http://" and just put the IP i want it to go to, but it has yet to work. If this is the wrong way of going about this and anyone knows the right way just let me know. Thanks in advance. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Welcome to the forum Brutis You would need to open a ticket at the help desk to do what you require, it can not be done from cpanel. Quote
brutis Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 thanks for the info, and the welcome. Ive been with totalchoice for awhile and am pleased with the service, although this is the first time ive ever really had a question. i may open a ticket on this, but its more or less to implement in a VNC program im writing so i dont have to change the IP in the code every time my IP changes, so I need to decide which is easier....change ip in code every time or open a ticket to have subdomain forwarded every time if anyone has a better solution to this let me know, thanks Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I do not know for sure if it will do what you want but you might look into a dynamic DNS service. That way you point it to the IP or name you get from them and they track your IP address changes. Quote
