Guest GuestMattGuest Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 I was planning on moving my site, and had a couple of questions (didn't find the answers in the FAQ of the pre sales stuff): 1) It does run on a CPanel managed site. It is a relatively small personal site, so I was wondering of your success in transferring them? Does it have to be a certain version? 2) It is a PHPNuke site, with some other things as well. Does the CPanel transfer include the MySQL DB and all of the settings? 3) Have you had any PHPNuke transfers that you know of some todo's or todont's? 4) I am contacting my registrar now about changing the DNS, but is this something that you can do for me, or what are my options there? 5) What other settings will I have to change...? (I.e. E-mail Client settings for download, etc...?) Anything else I should be aware of for a site transfer? Thanks Matt Quote
TCH-Don Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Welcome to the forums Matt You can open a help desk ticket (link at top of page) when you sign up and ask the techs to transfer your site it normally works 100% and includes files, database or evrything. You will need to change your DNS to the name servers from your welcome e-mail. And thats all you should need to do. While cpanel transfers normally woork there are exceptions, but its worth a try. stevevan Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 As Don says, it usually works 100% of the time. However, I would encourage you to make a back up of your data...it's always a good thing to do before making any major changes to a site. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hi Matt. While most of it has been covered I just wanted to clarify question number 4. You would need to make that change. We are unable to modify the name servers associated with your domain name for you. Quote
Guest GuestMattGuest Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Thanks all, one more follow up question. Do I have to move my URL right away (i.ee www.blahblahblah.com), or can I sign up, get the website up and going, and THEN transfer the URL to point here? That would be the easiest for me to work out the bugs, and the least downtime, I presume...only drawback would be paying for both sites at once, but your rates are low enough I do'nt have to worry about that... Thanks again Matt Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Take your pick. Of course the new site will only work via IP and that "may" cause issues with some parts of your site working correctly depending how you have coded it. Quote
TCH-Don Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Sure, when you sign up you will get a welcome e-mail with links to your site and ftp usin the IP address IP/~username so you can upload and view your space.. Quote
Guest GuestMattGuest Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Thanks all, back on top of this... One final question, does your e-mail systems use SORBS for e-mail filtering? One of my big complaints at my current host is that my Bellsouth freinds can't send me e-mails since their e-mail is blacklisted on SORBS or something...? Quote
stevevan Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 The TCH tech's deal with spammers coming from their systems very swiftly. My ISP is BellSouth and I send email back and forth all the time and have no problem. Quote
Guest GuestMattGuest Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Hi all, I signed up for the Silver Plan, but never did get a follow up e-mail with account information? What is the next step here? Quote
stevevan Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Submit a ticket with the help desk (link above), provice them as much info as you can, (put unknown for username), and they'll help you get straightened out. Quote
