spikeleung Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 As a potential new customer, I would have to agree with AdrianPurnama concerns. I just don't see why anyone would want to check and verify emails with an attachment that has a known virus signature on it. Also, I can nag my users about updated client side virus signatures, but really can't enforce it. For what it's worth, I would be willing to pay an extra $1/month for server side virus checking ($12/year). Perhaps your marketing guru's could conduct a study/poll to see if it makes business sense? Or you could offer it as a value added service? Besides the AV issue, so far I like your plans. Best Regards, Vic Quote
TCH-Andy Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Welcome to the forums Vic. As was stated in that thread - TCH does not offer server side anti-virus checking of email it at this time. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Welcome to the forums Vic It is ultimately the users responsibility to fend off viruses not a web host. Quote
Deverill Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Welcome to the forum, Vic. If someone wanted that kind of protection I guess they could go to AOL - that fast talking guy on TV seems to have everything protected for their users. They let you have a small web site too. Of course, if you want a real site then here's the place - great features, prices, uptime, support, etc. but TCH does require us to either ride the bicycle like a big kid or bring our own training wheels... they don't set up blogs or do virus checking or setup our FrontPage settings on our PC or stop spyware or phishing or any of the other things. Bottom line for me is that I'd rather them be the best web host as they are than be a mediocre AOL product. Besides, they aren't planning on offering it so it becomes a moot discussion anyway. There are many reasons to or not to offer a product or feature and I'm sure the cost is not the only issue in this case. Again, jack of all trades and master of none or the best webhost we could ever find? I prefer the latter. Quote
