UncleSteve Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Seems like a friendly place to ask, so... When using "entropy search", is there a way to stop it indexing various files or directories? Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help you can give. Steve Quote
Deverill Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Doing a Google search on "entropy search limiting" I found several hosts with what looks like canned Cpanel text that says the following: Warning: This search engine searches all of the ASCII (text) files on your site. This includes HTML, PERL, plain text files, etc. Since there is no way to limit the search engine, if any of these files contain sensitive information, either encrypt the files or remove them from your site. This is a smart move anyway - you should not store sensitive information on your web site without encryption. Sorry it's not good news. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 Welcome to the forums That's why I chose FastFind when I added a search to my site. Quote
UncleSteve Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 H Jim & Bruce, I had a feeling you'd say it was a non starter. Perhaps some one somewhere has a tweak. I'll take a look at your sugestion, though if it requires a lot of technical knowledge, it may not be the one for me. Seasons greetings Steve Quote
