This is a pre-sales question to the extent I'm considering upgrading one of our existing TCH accounts to get more bandwidth. I'm a satisfied customer going onto a year now, but I'm surprised that TCH's higher plans provide less bandwidth per dollar than the lower plans. For example:

Silver: 20GB for $5 = $0.25/GB

Delux: 35GB for $8.95 = $0.256/GB

Gold: 45GB for $14.95 = $0.332/GB

Expert: 50GB for $17.95 = $0.359/GB

What's the rationale? What am I missing?

What you are missing is you are looking at this from the customer side of the equation. The rationale is a simple answer, profit.

All businesses have a business plan and part of the "plan" is to price their products in such a way as to keep attracting new customers and keeping old customers AND make a profit in the process. One technique is to price the lower end products (most popular) with a very small profit margin and pricing the higher end products (less popular) with higher profit margins.

The higher priced products help keep the company profitable while the low priced products keep a steady flow of new customers coming in. Once they are a customer the "plan" says that to keep the customer a customer you need to keep them happy, and a smart business owner does other things like gives great service and support.

Hi Pix,

I think your figures are incorrect. When you upgrade plans, you are not only increasing bandwidth, but you are also increasing the disk space.

So when you compare costs, you need to take the increase in disk space into account.

Also one thing to look at when you are increasing the bandwidth you are also increasing your load on the server. So you are just paying more for your share of what you are using on the shared servers.
