Hi,

First let me say that I am totally new to this PHP stuff. I have some html experience with front page but this is different to me. I purchased some software and am having problems installing it so it can be viewed on the site. I am using cpanel and smartftp and can not get this to work. The folders that I have on my hosting server are www, public_html, public ftp, tmp, mail, etc, .gnupg, .htpasswds, Digital Cambist(software), and trash. It is my understanding that all files that you want viewable should be in the public folder. I am also confused about this MYSQL and how to set up databases and tables. Any help would be greatly apprecuated. I was told by the people who make the software that it could be uploaded and running in 5 minutes, but its been 2 days for me and i am running a little short on patience right now. Anyone install scripts for a small fee?

Welcome to the forums Benny

Yes, you want all viewable content in the public_html folder.

If you tell us what you are trying to install maybe we could help.

You create databases in cPanel using the MySQL Databases function. You create a database by giving it a name. You also need to create a user in the same section and add that user to the database. You then access the database by modifying the config file for the software you are installing.

For DBHost you use 'localhost'

For DBName you use 'your-cpanel-name_database-name-you-create'

For DBUser you use 'your-cpanel-name_user-you-create'

For DBPassword you use 'the-password-you-created'

If you need help just ask and someone will be willing to offer you some guidance.

Hi Benny,

Welcome to the forums!

If you are trying to install the Digital Cambist software, their site indicates that they will install it for free at the bottom of their features page.

Hope that helps!
