I am considering subscribing to the Silver Plan, for $5/month and upgrade when needed.

Questions:

1. How many domains (that I already own) can I have without being charged extra? How am I billed if I need more?

2. I read your email setup FAQ. So does this mean that if I were to setup my pop3 email account I have to setup through adelpia (my current ISP)? Or am I just misreading this? What I want (and thought was normal) was mail.my domain here.com to handle, well everything. I sometimes move around, does this mean I have to go snooping around for isp info when I travel, or am I just misreading your email setup page?

Notes: Found a broken link on your FAQ area. The TotalChoice Information page contains a link to

from the text:

Sample Reporting Info

TCH tracks and manages this information very closely. Here is a  sample screen snapshot of one of our servers for a particular time period

Hello Nylisk, first off welcome to the forums.

For the question about multiple domains, if they all point to the same content, then you can "park" these domains on top of your main domain. So "www.tchdomain1.com" will go to the same place that "www.tchdomain.com" will. If you have multiple sites, each with their own domain, then you will either need seperate accounts, or a reseller account.

As for mail, some ISP's block using an SMTP server other than their own. For instance, my ISP is Cox Communications. They do not allow use of any other SMTP server except for their own, so while I can check my email using regular pop (mail.mytchdomain.com), I have to send my mail through my ISP's SMTP server (but the mail will still have my tchdomain email address). However, I've noticed when I travel (specifically when I'm staying in hotels) I can't use my ISP's SMTP server (unless the hotel uses Cox also), so I have an alternate setup in my email program for my domain's SMTP as well, which I use when I'm away from home.

As for the broken link, try http://www.tchstatus.com/ and that should work.

Let me know if I wasn't clear enough or if you have any other questions. I'm confident you will like it here at TCH. At any rate, happy hunting!

So I have to actually have another whole account for a second website, a third for a third, etc etc? I was planning on having at least 2 projects, restarting a 3rd and wanted room for a 5th down the road.

How many domains are on the reseller accounts? I don't seem to see any exact numbers listed.

I have Adelphia as well and using TCH for SMTP is not a problem although I believe it would count against your bandwidth.

So although it will work I still send my mail via Adelphia.

Why do you have such a bizarre domain setup? I don't want to pay $20 a month for that much space and bandwidth. My sites in total will fit easily and I'm more concerned about the bandwidth than space. The Starter Plan will easily hold my all of my site's content.

I don't see what's bizarre about it. Virtual hosting accounts are hosted on separate servers from reseller accounts. The virtual hosting plans are designed and priced with the intent that only one domain will be used on each account. This allows TCH to ensure that its servers are not overloaded hosting thousands of domains each and running server performance into the ground.

I'll echo what David said above. I've been on a host that allowed their customers to use as many domains as they wanted, and people really abused that. Server performance was crap. Try visiting a site hosted by TCH, and you'll find that it's very responsive. TCH really is a quality host.

Welcome to the forums, Nylisk! If you shop around, I think you'll find TCH's prices, spec's, and performance are far above other hosting services. I used to be hosted by an ISP I worked for. TCH's pricing, service, and support are far better than that ISP.

Right then.

I'm convinced to try your service over all others for a few reasons.

So lets say I sign up right now. It says you don't do instant activation. Because I don't care to wake the others who live here I must ask. Do you do a phone call? I would like to get a site up again but its not that big of a deal to do it asap.

I would like to get the domain pointed in the right direction, which does take a small amount of time.

Congratulations on your choice...as I'm sure many people can attest, you won't be disappointed. Activation, while not instant, are usually done very quickly. Domain propagation, however, can take anywhere from 2-72 hours. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Again, welcome aboard!
