iconocoustica Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Hello TCH family, I upgraded my bulletin board (phpBB) today after getting the upgrade or else e-mail. I backed up using the Full Backup feature on cpanel before doing so. After the upgrade I am getting an error message when I go to the board. Can someone help me figure out what is wrong and how to get the BB from my back-up? The URL to my bulletin board page is http://www.franklinmoore.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=1. If that link doesn't work you can just go to http://www.franklinmoore.com and click on "Message Board". I appreciate any help you can give me. Franklin Quote

iconocoustica Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Thanks, Bruce. I checked out that thread. Excuse my ignorance but where do I find the install/update_to_latest.php file to upload? Thanks, Franklin Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Just goto your-tch-site.ext/your-forum-folder/install/update_to_latest.php Quote

iconocoustica Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Thanks for the replies. Can I still recover the info that was on my old board and transfer it to the updates version? Franklin Quote
dcumpian Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The "update_to_latest.php" file only changes the data structure of the PHPBB tables. It should not affect your forum's data. Regards Quote

Assuming you are using the same "config.php" as before, then the forum should be pointed to your old database. If you replaced your "config.php" you just need to r point it to your old database. All the "update" script will do is update your forum's database to whatever new fields may have been added in the latest update. I do remember that there was a change to how phpBB handles the Admin Control Panel a release or two ago. I am pretty sure there was an update to the database at that time. Quote
iconocoustica Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Alright, thanks. I will give it a try tonight when I get home. Franklin Quote
