reddwine Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Im trying to transfer my domain to TCH. It was denied because the current status of the domain name(s) is: REGISTRAR-LOCK, I informed my old host of the problem, but I had Just canceled with Useractive as I was tranfering to TCH. Have I messed up? How can I make this transfer less painful ? ? thanks, barb Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Welcome to the forum Barb Can you log in to where ever you bought your domain name and turn off the register lock? When you bought the domain, you should have received instructions on how to manage your domain. Quote
reddwine Posted August 20, 2005 Author Posted August 20, 2005 I forgot to mention Im a beginner/novice in all this and request your replies be in layperson's terms geared for a newbie. ) Quote
reddwine Posted August 20, 2005 Author Posted August 20, 2005 Lets see if I can get a reply to post. This is all new to me. I registered the name with RegisterFly and my website host is UserActive. So are you saying I would go to the RegisterFly site and turn off the lock from there? Quote
JDanniel Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Barb, I have a client who's asked the same questions and is in a similar situation. He wanted to transfer his domain to TCH (upon my suggestion), but canceled his other web hosting account first. The transfer request was subsequently rejected, and he didn't know what to do. I came here, to this forum, to research the problem, so what I think I'll do is see what replies are posted here, and see what happens. Can TCH unlock your domain for you, if you canceled your other hosting account? That's what I'd like to find out. Or, will you have to uncancel your other host to unlock the domain? I'm curious about this. Jd Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Barb, If you goto RegisterFly.com accounts and log in with the user and password you received when you bought the domain you should see a place to unlock the domain so a transfer can take place. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 JD, TCH cannot unlock a domain if it is registered elsewhere. your client will need to log in at the domain register and unlock it. If the register and the host are the same, they will need to contact them. Quote
reddwine Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 Thank you all for the warm welcome. I think Im gonna like it here. Don, Thank you very much for your help. I went into RegisterFly and found the unlock button. It seems that fixed my problem. Im sure I will be back. Barb Quote

reddwine Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Ok, new friends, I have another question. Ive been transfering my 'stuff' over to TCH. My question is this....is TCH affiliated with Wild West Domains. They are requesting a domain transfer for me. NoviceBarb Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Yes, TCH is affiliated with Wild West Domains and they are requesting you to verify you want to transfer the domain. Then when they start the transfer process you will get another e-mail from your current domain registrar asking if you really want to leave them. Quote
reddwine Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Alrighty. moving right along here. While I wait for all this to happen, do I sign up for your silver plan? or do I wait for all this to happen and THEN order the silver plan? I want my web site up and running as soon as possible. Thanks, forever in your debt Barb. Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 you can sign up now with that domain name and then upload your site using the information in your welcome e-mail when you receive it. There will be a part that will show how to use an ftp program to upload files using an address like ftp:123.123.123.12/~yourusername before your domain name points to your new space. If you have questions on this after looking at the welcome e-mail please ask in the html and css forum or whichever forum that fits the program you use. Quote
