queenpictoria Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I am taking another run at asking this question. What would you call this??? http://www.queenpictoria.com/ScreenTrouble1.jpg This happens when I am working in my HTML editor. The other day, it happened online. Ugh! I thought maybe it happens during busy traffic times, but if that is true, that is not so great either. Does this happen to anybody else. Thank God for this forum. Sincerely, queenpictoria http://www.queenpictoria.com Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 What would you call this??? A video card problem it looks like to me. But I could be wrong. Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I wonder if your video is using shared memory? and how old is the computer? Quote
queenpictoria Posted June 27, 2005 Author Posted June 27, 2005 I wonder if your video is using shared memory?and how old is the computer? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My computer is a dinosaur...a Dell Inspiron 5000e...5 years old this coming October. I am hoping my website and business will provide for a new one! I have an extended warranty on this computer until October, so if it's something in my hardware, perhaps I could get it replaced. My main concern is that my website doesn't look that way to others. When I shut down the computer and bring it up again it stops. As far as shared memory, it very well could be part of the cause. I push this poor thing to the limit! It's been through fire and smoke with me. I cannot imagine having a computer without a good warranty. Thanks for your feedback. I am grateful to have this computer, but look forward to one with 10X the RAM I am using now (196 ) "Great Caesar's Ghost!" Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 The reason I asked about the age is that after a length of time the pins on memory chips may become oxidized and need to be removed and reseated to clean the pins. Or they may have worked loose and need to be pushed back all the way in. This needs to be done carefully while grounded. If you are not experienced at this you want to find someone that is. Just some possibility's Do you see any errors while booting during the memory test? or you may not have enough memory for what you are doing. On my old Pentium 90 I had to add 768 meg of memory to keep it working with todays programs. Quote
queenpictoria Posted June 28, 2005 Author Posted June 28, 2005 Thanks for your feedback. I'll check to confirm that graphics card problem. My local technician echoed what you guys said. Now I can take care of the problem. Mucho mucho gracias. D. J. Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 The page looks okay here, except it opens about twice the size of my screen width so I have to scroll from side to side. But that happens on several sites, don't know why. Quote

queenpictoria Posted July 21, 2005 Author Posted July 21, 2005 does it do it only for certain apps? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it only does it on certain pages I am building. I have changed a background file and it seemed to cut it down more, but it still happens on my webpages..and just on my computer. Dell could not diagnose it. Quote
