duker Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 I'm fairly new to this so excuse me if my questions are quite basic but here it goes. I created a web photo album; I notice it opens fireworks and basically creates like three different versions of each picture. It works fine and I like the feature. My problem is when I want to add a few photos or delete ones in there. Is there anyway to make a simple change like that? I don't think I can add them just to the photo album folder. I'm not sure if I have to restart every time I need to make a change? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dave Quote

TCH-Rob Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 Don, You can automatically generate a website that showcases a photo album of images located in a given folder. Dreamweaver uses Fireworks to create a thumbnail image and a larger-sized image for each of the images in the folder. Dreamweaver then creates a web page containing all the thumbnails, as well as links to the larger images. To create a web photo album, you must have both Dreamweaver and Fireworks 4 or later installed on your system. Dave, I have not used this feature but as far as I can tell, it looks like you have to start from scratch to modify after posting. I am sure someone more familiar with this procedure can say for sure though. Quote
Deverill Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 That is a package I used a fair amount. A very simple change like deleting a photo and leaving a gap can be done without too much pain. If you want to clase up that gap and resize it then you'll either have to be pretty good at HTML or rebuild it from scratch. Quote
nortk Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Yes, I'm pretty sure you have to start from scratch with the Macromedia tools. There are other tools available for managing photo albums. The free JAlbum is similar to the Macromedia approach, requiring you to start from scratch, but it offers far more flexibility, and I think it is much easier to work with. The free PHP-based Gallery takes some work getting it set up at your site, but once it is there, you can add and delete pictures easily, without needing to start from scratch. Norm Krumpe Quote
