Patricia Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Hi everyone i'm trying to gauge how well my site has done in it's first full month of being live. so just wondered if these stats are "normal" or is this a little slow for a fairly small website and what perhaps could i do to increase traffic? i'm listed on alexa finally and got a number (basically 5,000,000) which not sure what that means.. anyways.. here is the just of it.. any advice / comments would be great thanks! I am jealous on you for having 5897 unique Visitors in one month. It took me 2 years to get 2000 visitors. Well done, Patricia. Quote
TweezerMan Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 I don't know that there any definition of what constitutes "normal" traffic other than what is normal for your site. One thing I did notice: Hits 544085 (66.24 hits/visit) 66 hits per visit seems like a lot to me (the web server is, on average, serving 66 files for each page that is requested from the server). Do you have a lot of individual graphics files on your web pages? Quote

David, i'm not sure, most likely actually since i have a CMS system and for each page you click, the rest of the system is static. i'm on cable so i can't see it too much. but i think the reason that is so high is because of the sigmachat im using. hrmm but that is load time. i don't see very many pictures at all.. except for the couple of banners, and perhaps the news and topic icons. oh. and a yahoo store hehe that might be why.. the reason i don't post the url, is im not sure if it is okay for this forum. so i will refrain from doing so. thanks anyways for putting that in perspective. i just thought it meant how many clicks someone did during a visit.. Deverill Posted June 1, 2005 Posted June 1, 2005 Almost 6000 different people going to your site the first month it's active is great unless you have a captive audience in which case it's pretty good. By captive audience I mean, for instance, you sell a product that's awesomely popular and to get support they have to come to your site... that's kind of cheating. If your site is just "out there" for people to find then 6k is awesome in 1 month - congrats either way! Quote
