One of the folks in my gardening forum claims Irfanview will not work with XP. She claims when she attempted to use it with XP it gave a "fatal error" message.

Has anyone else heard this? I use it a lot in 98 but will be changing to XP within a few weeks. I'd really miss Irfanview - it's such a good program.

Any informaiton would be greatly appreciated.

Beth, I use it for my main image viewing program and I have been on XP for a while. It works fine.

Have them uninstall it and re-download and install it again. Sounds like it may be a bad install.

:) Just in case anyone is interested in a bit of IrfanView trivia, the program actually generates quite a bit of traffic to TCH. If you try to play a movie file using IrfanView but don't have the right codec installed, IrfanView refers to you www.fourcc.org which is a site I host on TCH which offers information on PC video software.

I moved to TCH specifically to keep this site up and running since my previous host crashed often resulting in a lot of irate email from IrfanView users. ;)

Personally I use the k-lite mega codec pack for all my audio/video codecs. If anybody s having problems with Irfanview there is an almost identical program called XN View - xnview.com
