Ninepatch Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 One of the folks in my gardening forum claims Irfanview will not work with XP. She claims when she attempted to use it with XP it gave a "fatal error" message. Has anyone else heard this? I use it a lot in 98 but will be changing to XP within a few weeks. I'd really miss Irfanview - it's such a good program. Any informaiton would be greatly appreciated. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 I tried it on XP and it worked well. However I didn´t like Irfanview so I deleted it. But it works. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Beth, I use it for my main image viewing program and I have been on XP for a while. It works fine. Have them uninstall it and re-download and install it again. Sounds like it may be a bad install. Quote
TCH-Don Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Never had a problem with Irfranviw on 98 and XP It is my default image vierw also. It keeps getting better with each version. Quote
Ninepatch Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 Thank you, gentlemen. I'm so glad to hear this. You're the best!! Quote
jslagle Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Beth, they just released a new version, 3.97. I'm running 3.80 on XP and haven't had a problem Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 I always load the new version as soon as I hear that it's out. 3.97 works fine on XP. Quote
stevevan Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Running 3.85 on my laptop XP. No problems here either! Quote
bboyjay Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 Yeah I use irfanview for just about all my image fixing stuff. It's great Quote
dawilson Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Just in case anyone is interested in a bit of IrfanView trivia, the program actually generates quite a bit of traffic to TCH. If you try to play a movie file using IrfanView but don't have the right codec installed, IrfanView refers to you www.fourcc.org which is a site I host on TCH which offers information on PC video software. I moved to TCH specifically to keep this site up and running since my previous host crashed often resulting in a lot of irate email from IrfanView users. Regards, Dave Wilson Quote
OldTimer Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 (edited) I have 3.70 on XP and no problems. Wonder what the new update has over my older version? Guess I'll check out there site. Greg Edited November 21, 2005 by OldTimer Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Greg, you can go to the IrfanView site and select the History link to see what's changed since 3.70 which is quite a bit. Quote
carbonize Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Personally I use the k-lite mega codec pack for all my audio/video codecs. If anybody s having problems with Irfanview there is an almost identical program called XN View - xnview.com Quote
OldTimer Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Greg, you can go to the IrfanView site and select the History link to see what's changed since 3.70 which is quite a bit. Thanks Bruce, Will take a look. For me, it'll be like teaching an old dog new tricks. Greg Quote
