HI,

I have setup an FTP account for my domain. I am wondering if there is a way to allow downloads but restrict uploads to this account (folder). I do want to keep it password protected.

Any help would be appreciated.

hhm.. couldn't you create another user, point them to root, and then deny that user write access?

I know a windows ftp server could, surely *nix can too.

You don't have that much control in cPanel and shell access is not available on a shared hosting account.

Bummer..

One more thing to add to my list of 'why I liked running my own server'.

So what you are saying then, is that even anonymous users will have write access and could fill your available space (and take your bandwidth), just for the fun of it, since you can't control what your FTP users do. I knew there was a good reason for deleting the anon ftp accounts, but you can't even do that in cpanel!.

Anonymous FTP is disabled on the servers.
