Hi,

I am about 3 months old in the building of websites.

I am a bit of a geek, so it is coming along at a good pace.

I am looking for 3 different scripts.

Although it is difficult to be sure I am using the right vocabulary,

I am looking at putting features in my website that allow me to:

1)Have visitors upload their pictures.

2)Vote on certain items on the site.

3)Assign a few Guestbooks. I saw the guestbook button

on the cpanel and looked at it, but perhaps I need a good tutorial.

Anything you can suggest will be so very appreciated.

Yours Truly,

April

April, you probably want some kind of photo gallery. I recommend Gallery (they just released the second beta version of Gallery 2.0, which promises to be sweet) or Coppermine.

As for the others, I can't help you much, since I never used guestbooks or polls in my websites. I know of some software packages that have polls incorporated but they're much more than you're asking (like phpBB and Invision Power Board - the one we're using right now here on TCH, which are fully featured online bulletin boards).

Go to my website (below), look on the left menu about 2/3rds of the way down and click on the Voting Booth link.

Something like that work for you?

Guestbook is on that menu as well, very simply guestbook.

Hello Pendragon,

I really like the simplicity of your website.

I'm checking it out further this week.

I may contact you for further information.

My website is getting very complicated and I

am just getting comfortable with HTML.

It is great!

So now there are more languages in scripts (CSS, PHP, etc.).

I need to do enough to put my website up and add developments,

but my coach wants me to do as much as I can before we launch it.

Bring it on!

Thanks so much for your help.

Just my personal preference. I despise graphic intensive websites, especially ones with animation, flash and other well, 'flashy' stuff that looks like it was done simply to show the webmaster could do it. I'm on cable now, but I don't have enough fingers and toes to list the websites I would NOT go to if I were still on dial up.

As you noticed, some things I haven't fixed yet since switching to TCH. I was running the site (and several others) from my own server, which let me do way more things than I can do running on someone elses.
