kingram Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) I registered a domain name with another registrar (1and 1) today evening and my package with total choice hosting. However when I tried to change the DNS setting I could not do that. Is it a fact of domain propagation and I should wait. Can I still upload the file to TCH or I should wait and if so where should uploa dhte file? Can I delete the files under my IP address when I log in to the IP address? Thanks, Shahram Edited April 8, 2005 by kingram Quote
tomowa Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Hi You need to set/change the nameservers at your registrar to what was specified in your TCH welcome email. At that point, through the registrar, propagation begins. I have seen propagation take anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 days In your welcome email, there will be links, so you can access your cpanel and server space via the server IP and your user name. Yes, you can add and edit your content via the IP/user name combo. I think these are the questions you are asking. HTH, Tom Quote
TCH-Don Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Welcome to the Family Shahram and your new home! be sure to upload your files to the public_html folder. We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help Quote
stevevan Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 Welcome to the forums! I know it's hard to wait for the propagation to occur, but be patient...it'll be worth the wait! Quote
kingram Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 Hi, Thank you for the welcome. I am not sure what is happening. I registered the domain with 1 and 1 but after almost 13 hour I can not change the setting I am assuming that there should be some problem. Is it possible that they do not want me to transfer my domain, or I should wait more. in this way I need ot wait more than 3 day 2 day for propagation of 1 and 1 domain and 2 days for TCH domain. TCH-Bruce Posted April 8, 2005 Posted April 8, 2005 You don't need to transfer the domain to TCH. You just need to log in to your domain register account and change the DNS (Domain Name Servers) to point to the ones in your welcome email. Quote
kingram Posted April 8, 2005 Author Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) Thank you fr reply. I know that but it is written Unmodifiable under DNS setting. I am going to call them to figure it out. It is such a hassle. Shahram You don't need to transfer the domain to TCH. abinidi Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Can I transfer my domain? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can always transfer your domain. Switch to a registrar that will give you the level of customer service you want. I don't want to violate forum rules by recommending a specific registrar on-list, but if you contact me off-list, I'd be happy to tell you about my registrar, with whom I am very happy (and have nothing other than a business relationship with).
