I already have two very small websites hosted with TCH and am very pleased with the service.

I have a third website which has been hosted for the last several years with Avidhosting. This is my business website and I really depend on it for leads.... I am no longer satisfied with the Avidhosting service and would like to transfer my site to TCH but I am nervous about it. The site has excellent positioning with the search engines and I don't want to do anything to mess that up....in fact, that positioning is the main reason I have not dumped avidhosting sooner.

so my question is, will transfering the site to TCH cause it to lose positioning with google and the other search engines?

To my knowledge, the hosting company has no bearing on search engine ranking.

There is an aspect to this that could affect search engine listings if you're not careful:

When your site is transferred to TCH, you should leave the sites on both hosts operational at least until DNS has fully propogated. If a search engine attempts to crawl your site after you transferred your site to TCH, but before DNS has propogated, the search engine will try to crawl the non-existent pages on the Avidhosting site.

That's the only thing I think you should be aware of. :clapping:

When I moved our company's site I did as TCH-David desrcibes above and didn't lose our place in the search engines.

I actually kept the old site up for 30 days on the old host after moving it to TCH.

:) Welcome to the Family georgiehopper

and your home!

When I moved here I just left the old site up

for two weeks and then cancelled the hosting.

We really are like family here.

So if you need anything,

just ask your new family!

We love to help :)

Welcome to the forums! Use TCH-David's suggestion and you shouldn't lose any rankings. (I say that because nothing is 100% foolproof!)
