I want to switch from FeaturePrice asap, but I have a few concerns. I have 160+ email users on FP. When I setup the new reseller account with TotalChoice, will I be able to setup email users before DNS switches over. Also, will I be able to test my websites by going to a specific IP address before DNS switches over?

I was able to add e-mail addresses as soon as my account was active. I cant check them thru outlook yet (I'm assuming DNS must resolve first) but they can be accessed thru webmail using the temp url and they do work.

I just signed up yesterday and wanted to make sure my site worked like it should before i transfered the DNS. you get a temp URL to access your site.

Yes, you can set up all your email addresses prior to your domain name/DNS nameserver propogating the Internet, since all that is done via cPanel.

As noted, you will not be able to use any PC client email to retrieve email until the DNS links do propogate. And, in fact that should be the way it works:

1. You have a web site and email accounts currently on web site #1

2. You sign up with TCH for a new web site (#2)

3. You go ahead and republish your web site and setup your email accounts on the new web site (#2)

4. Once everything looks "good to go", you can then go to your domain name provider and request that the DNS nameservers be updated to point to your TCH location.

That way, you should not lose any visitors to your web site, nor email for your users/customers.

Since FeaturePrice sites are totally unreliable at the moment, you don't have anything to lose even if there's a short down time :-(.

I assure you, that you will *never* regret choosing TCH as a place to move to from FP.

:)

I made the move from FP along with my phpnuke 6.5 CMS nice and easy. Exported database on FP, went into Cpanel imported the database. FTp'd my nuke layout to my pc because of custom changes to many files, and uploaded to my site here. A few minor changes later, like changing setlocale LC_ variable to not have double quotes around it and I am up and running fully. A very smooth move. A very nice move. I was down often enough with FP, and did not even bother with their tech support. After the 2nd issue with the generic response, I realized it just was not worth my time and aggravation to send in trouble tickets. I hope to have a nice long stay here at TCH. I did sign up for the monthly for the moment, just because I have been so traumatized by my past experience. ;)
