edward19283 Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 I normally unzip server-side programs on my desktop and upload via FTP. I am working on a new program and find the when I FTP a large number of files, the server or connection hangs up at some point, so my FTP gets cut off. I use SmartFTP and have passive file transfer enabled. I am having problems getting my current program working, so I am wondering if perhaps my having to restart the FTP where I left off may be causing me to leave out some files. Is there is a way for me to upload the zip file of the software and unzip it from the server so that all the files get unzipped and copied properly. Thanks. Ed S. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 2, 2005 Posted March 2, 2005 Yes, you should be able to just upload the tar or zip file to your site and then with File Manager in cPanel extract it. Quote
Soran Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 (edited) I have the same problem, and i use SmartFTP too ( v1.0.969 ). Now, while a solution with zipping / uploading / unzipping via cpanel is better than nothing, i'm not really satisfied with it, it's not very convenient, i can upload it on other webserver without any problems, and it worked with TCH before too. TCH-Bruce Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Hi Soran, have you tried any other FTP clients? Have you made sure that Passive mode is enabled? If both of those are true I would suggest opening a Help Desk ticket and have one of the techs look into it. Quote

TCH-Bruce Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 There are trial versions for almost all the FTP clients out there. I personally use CuteFTP. You could also try WS_FTP which I believe is still free. Quote
