silentz Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I'm having quite a time just moving my site over to TCH, as various scripts (osCOmmerce, Invision Powerboard etc) all create the mySQL databases with your user name in them. When you move to a different server, I've just found out about the need to "re-link" the copied installs to the mySQL files on the new server (and with a new file path). For example, in osCommerce I know you can go into catalogue/includes/configure.php and alter the database username, password and database name in there to get it to find the database with the new name. How you do this for Invision Powerboard I'm still trying to figure out, but unfortunately because it's a "third party script" issue and not a "hosting issue" Tech support won't touch it! (No, apparently the fact that it works fine until the host changes does not make it a hosting issue). Anyway, long story short, a tutorial on how to migrate commonly installed scripts such as IVPB to your servers would be FABULOUS and save us all a lot of time! Thanks! Quote

silentz Posted February 14, 2005 Author Posted February 14, 2005 Thanks Dick, Much appreciated! I just wanted to add for anyone reading this post that these guys did an *amazing* job of helping me with this issue. If you want great customer support, TCH is the place to be. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Take a look at our Help Site. It contains alot of information including Movie tutorials. With Invision 1.2 you need to edit conf_global.php to reflect the your new account settings. The information for the MySQL basic setup can be viewed in the movie tutorials. I know it also on the board but we will get it moved to this section too. Welcome to TotalChoice Hosting Quote
