drumcrazypat Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 First off, I want to thank anyone who attempts to help in advance. It means TONS. Now, to explain my situation. I have bought a domain from TCH, and I'm also being hosted there. I set up three e-mail accounts using my CPanel. Instead of having to check those three e-mail accounts seperately, I decided it would be much easier using Outlook Express. So, I open Outlook, add my first account. I used the instructions that came with the e-mail when I registered a little over a month ago. I go to send an e-mail to check it out, and it doesn't work. This is the error that appears: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Server: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Frustrated, I remove the account from Outlook and attempt to try again. Yet, another fail. So, here I am. Pleading for help Anything that you kind folks can give me would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Welcome to your extended family Your internet service provider are probably blocking port 25. Try setting it to 26 and see if it works. Sometimes it does, sometimes not. Quote
drumcrazypat Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 Thanks for the welcome, Thomas. I changed the server to 26. It sent. But now I get this: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Server: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Username/Password Mismatch perhaps drumcrazy@****** ?', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92 I was getting it before, but I figured that changing my password using CPanel would fix it. I changed the password, and have been trying to use that. Doesn't work, though. Thanks, once again. Quote
drumcrazypat Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 Jus' found out that I can check my e-mail with the new password using Horde. So, I'm guessin' it's having to do something with Outlook. I changed the password to the new one in Outlook. Still not allowing me. Argh. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Ok. I dont use outlook express so it was just a wild guess from my side since its the most usual error people run in to I believe. But hang on, someone will figure out the answer. Quote
GroovyFish Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Try using username+domain.com as your login name (+ instead of the @) and see if that works. Quote
GroovyFish Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 And by the way...Welcome to the family!! Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 If you are experiencing a problem with Outlook after changing the port to 26 Open up a help desk ticket by clicking on help desk at the top of this screen and let them know that you are having a problem with email using port 25 and port 26 sometimes they need to verify that Your Domain is set up to use that port Also Welcome to TCH Quote
stevevan Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Have you tried the online instructions found here? And welcome! Quote
drumcrazypat Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 Thanks, GroovyFish, for the welcome I did as you said. This is what I got: The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'drumcrazy+drumcrazydesigns.com'. Subject 'Testing', Account: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Server: 'mail.drumcrazydesigns.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 <drumcrazy+drumcrazydesigns.com>: sender address must contain a domain', Port: 26, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC78 Doesn't look Outlook will want me to use that + sign. *sighs* Quote
drumcrazypat Posted January 25, 2005 Author Posted January 25, 2005 WOOOOT! It worked. Ended up having to say that the server was for authentication. After that, it started sending. Thanks so much, for everyone who helped Quote
