vplaza Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 Today our mail server went down (still is) for over an hour. This has happened several times lately. The big problem is that we never receive any e-mail that was sent to us while the server was down. Shouldn't these e-mails be waiting to be delivered as soon as the server comes back up? This is very frustrating. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 24, 2005 Posted January 24, 2005 As soon as? Not always. The sending mail server will usually try for a period of time and then wait a little while before trying again. It most often follows this procedure for a few days before failing completely. It really does depend on the sending mail servers settings. Quote
