jbach Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 (edited) Hi I'm currently doing a site re-design for a freelance client of mine and I am going to recommend he switch to TCH for hosting. The site will be flash based, have quite a bit of video content and a movable type blog component. I will need prompt support in getting the blog working properly in a timely fashion. So, what I need is help in putting together a convincing argument for my client to make the switch, since he is happy with his current hosting service. If I passed along the url of his current (old) site to give an idea of the amount of video content, could someone give me a recommendation on the best TCH hosting package and what it would cost? I've already emailed sales but haven't received a reply. Thanks in advance Jim Bachalo **************** Edited January 7, 2005 by Head Guru Quote
LisaJill Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 First, I'm going to move this to pre-sales for now. Two, can you find out how much disk space and bandwidtch, each month, his site takes? That is what we need to find out. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 I just wanted to add something here also, we do not provide support for setting up 3rd party scripts/software. Any of the popular blogging software would fall into this catagory. There are however many many forum users here that are always willing to lend a hand with things like that. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of this before hand. Quote

Worst case scenario, if bandwidth usage goes over the current plan I understand that the client wouldn't be charged automatically but would be notified first. Is this correct? As for support with movable type. i've already set up my own blog at bitstream.ca , fumbling my way thru my limited knowledge of mysql and php but its up and working. I did get a couple questions answered in the forums. Thanks in advance Jim Bachalo Quote
Head Guru Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Jim, I have edited out your phone number from your first post. Try not to post to much personal information on a public forum. If you would like to drop me a email, I would be more than happy to get you a quote for the services your looking for. My email address follows this post. Bill Quote
LisaJill Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 Looking at the old site just doesn't give us any information to help - that's why you're not getting the answers that you seek. The system will notify at 80% of quota usage, so you can then upgrade/buy more bandwidth if that becomes a problem. In that case - guess, and buy a plan that you think should do it, and go from there. If quota hits 100% your site will be *automatically suspended*. So - warning at 80%, Suspension at 100%. Make sure you use an email not associated with that domain for the cpanel contact information to be totally safe. =) Quote
