BuickStreet Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Hi, I would like to password protect my entire site by using web protect. My goal is to allow only staff and developers access to the site while it's being built. I'd like to do this by using web protect on public_html but when I click on the link next to the icon which says 'current folder' it does not give me the lock with the check box that I was expecting. Isn't public_html protectable? Quote
TCH-JimE Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Hi, Actually you will need to click on webprotect before selecting the folder. Since the public html folder is no there, and you can not naviagate higher, i would guess the answer to be no. Jim Quote
BuickStreet Posted April 7, 2003 Author Posted April 7, 2003 Any ideas on how I can go about protecting our site with a password without having to create a folder and adding to the URL? I want toleave the home page on the root directory - if you know what I mean? Quote
TCH-JimE Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Hi, You might be able to tinker with your .htaccesss file. Look up on google about authentication and .htaccess. Also try this link: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/howto/htaccess.html#auth Jim Quote
