ianrd Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 Hi! I deleted my SQL database for Movable Type installed on my site. Now I can't login here: http://www.powerfoundation.org/mt/mt.cgi because my user is unknown, and Melody Nelson is also unknown! What do I do? Please don't tell me I have to reinstall everything! I know, I know ....... you pay for your mistakes. But it took me the whole weekend to configure it only to lose it by pressing delete on the wrong database in my cPanel when I was trying to add a bulletin board! I know I suck Quote
charle97 Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 open a ticket and see if support can restore a backup if they have one. in the future, backup your dbs prior to messing with any of them. then you can restore them yourself if you run into trouble. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 It's a good idea to backup your entire site periodically. Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 20, 2004 Posted December 20, 2004 After you have your database restored goto cpanel > backup and click on the link to download a database, just click on the name of the database to download Then you can upload it later by browsing to the file on your computer with the window just to the right of the dowload. borfast Posted December 23, 2004 Posted December 23, 2004 (edited) As Charles said, open a Help Desk ticket and see if they can restore your database from a backup. Also, listen to Bruce and Don: make periodic backups! Edit: Raul had Bruce and Dont, I removed the "t" Edited December 23, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
