TomeOne Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Dear TCH and fellow website owners: If you're like me, you think Squirrelmail is a great little webmail app. However, if you're still like, you might notice a few limitations or missing features in it. However, at Squirrelmail's website you can find a wealth of third-party add-ons and plugins providing those little features you are missing or are in need of. What I would like to propose to the staff of TCH and my fellow TCH users is that we all come together and bring up what we'd like to see in Squirrelmail hosted within our TCH servers so that it may become a more feature-rich webmail app. I'm a little ignorant of security issues and the like, and I'm sure TCH will have to look at such a proposal carefully, but it would really be great if you could work with me/us on this. One plugin I'd like to see installed is one that empties trash periodically for you. Another is one that prunes the sent-mail folder at a user-defined time. Squirrelmail's plugin page is here. I really wouldn't have bothered to bring thing up since I download and read all my mail in a client on my computer, but having given my fiancé a mail account which she will probably primarily use via Squirrelmail, I began to realise how limited it is in its current state. I decided to bring this up here and hope for the best, let me know what you think, thanks! Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 One option for you is How To Install Squirrelmail so you can add what you want. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Squirrelmail is part of the cPanel. If you would like to install your own instance of Squirrelmail another user wrote a tutorial and it cna be found here. Moving for organization. Quote
TomeOne Posted October 17, 2004 Author Posted October 17, 2004 Well I feel like the right idiot now. Sorry about that. I shall read that guide for sure, thank you! Quote
jandafields Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 I think the biggest thing missing in SquirrelMail, and something that no one to my knowledge has been able to implement while hosting at TCH, is some sort of indication of "quota remaining" or "quota used" so users will know when their mailbox is getting close to full. Anyway, it is extremely easy to setup your own SquirrelMail with all the plugins you want. Just use those links above... Quote
