cornfestival Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 With all the scams and phishing schemes I thought I would be cautious. I received this email and just want to make sure it is real. Here is the body of it. ****************************************** Important Notice Regarding your Domain(s) ****************************************** Dear Domain Administrator, ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, requires all registrars to ask their domain administrators and/or registrants to annually review their domain name contact data and to make whatever changes are needed to ensure that it's accurate and current. If your review indicates that all of your domain contact data is accurate, there's no need to take any action. Please remember that under the terms of your registration agreement, providing false contact information can be grounds for cancellation of your domain name registration under ICANN rules. So if any of your domain contact information is inaccurate, you must correct it. Please paste this link in your Web browser address window, to review your contact data and update it if necessary. removed link(changed this) If your Web browser is having trouble displaying your contact data, and you are prompted for a "Domain Information Key", please enter removed (changed this) If you have any questions please call our support line at (480) 624-2500. TCH-Andy Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 Hi, Yes, this is a legitimate email. I understand your concern, and personally never follow the links in email, but rather go to the base site (which I know to be correct), and check the information that way. In this case though - you should be fine. It should not be asking you for any credit card or bank information though - just confirming that your domain registration contact details are correct. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 5, 2004 Posted October 5, 2004 I got one of those today. I clicked it and nothing happened (I hope ) Quote
