  1. Kind of. I'm in the Cedar Rapids area.
  2. Bob - Where in Eastern Iowa are you?
  3. WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. A word of Warning! It isn't a children's book.
  4. Thanks Don. That's the kind of stuff I need to know. Are there other things I need to be aware of?
  5. My intention is for parents to sign up for the emails. We already have a list of nearly 100. My fear is that we be identified as a spammer. That is what I am trying to avoid. Some people are telling us that the emails are being flagged as possible spam the way we are currently sending them.
  6. My daughter's high school band has been selected to represent our state in the 2005 National 4th of July parade in Washington DC. We are currently in the middle of a fund raiser. I have volunteered to create a web site for the band and donate the cost and my time. It will be hosted by Total Choice! One reason I want to create this web site is so we can have a mailing list to send out band booster minutes and other information to parents. My question is this. Am I going to have to worry about getting identified as a spammer? We have a list of about 100 parents that we will be sending information out as a group two to three times a month. The last thing I want is for the site to get black listed and shut down. Are there any things I need to do so this does not happen?
  7. This ticks me off about CompUSA. They've done more times than I can remember. I refuse to shop there anymore. I think this borders on bait and switch and maybe some state's attonery general should investigate.
  8. With all the scams and phishing schemes I thought I would be cautious. I received this email and just want to make sure it is real. Here is the body of it. ****************************************** Important Notice Regarding your Domain(s) ****************************************** Dear Domain Administrator, ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, requires all registrars to ask their domain administrators and/or registrants to annually review their domain name contact data and to make whatever changes are needed to ensure that it's accurate and current. 9. VI - I don't know about the home edition of Norton, but I had to download a patch for my corporate edition for sp2. Have you looked into that?
  10. Update - I had my meeting with the HR Director and CFO for the hospital. It lasted for 2 and a half hours. I was very impressed with the system in place and with the hospital in general. After about 2 hours we began to talk salary. They know what I make currently and are putting together a complete compensation package for me to consider. Basically, they want me and the ball is now in my court.
  11. Thanks VI. Jim - Head hunter was calling on behalf of the hospital. I haven't even sent any feelers out for any thing. I am very happy in my current job but I just think a person would be a fool not to listen to what they have to say.
  12. Ok, I have never been in this position before, but yesterday I received a phone call out of the blue from a hospital in my area wanting to "open the lines of communication" with me about the Senior Network Administrator position that will soon be open. Naturally I told them I would listen so I have a meeting set up for early next week to talk with the HR director and the CEO. I believe I should treat this like a regular job interview but is there any thing else I should be prepared for? Are there any red flags I should watch for? Any other words of wisdom would be helpful. I really am taken back by this whole deal and don't want to walk into the meeting with the equivalent of my fly down. (I will check that before I walk in the door.) Thanks!
  13. You're giving me 1 million dollars!!!!!!!!! Why thank you! I do turn 42 on September 15th. What a great present.
  14. Ramone - Try http://www.lowendmac.com/ for ideas on older Macs. And by the way... no need to shut the Mac down. Sleep is fine for transporting.
  15. Menttal - Nothing to add to what you are asking, but... are those pancakes on the rabbit's head in your picture? Just wondering.
  16. I got it to work. I ticked the box for "Enable Personalized Favorites Menu" under the "Advanced" tab of "Internet Options" and then restart. Once I did that it shows up fine.
  17. Thanks Bruce. I tried the bookmark thing too in IE and it still does not show up.
  18. Oh, one more thing. The icon shows up in Mac OS X Safari, Netscape 7.1 and Opera. Go figure.
  19. I have created a 16x16 pixel favicon for my web site but it does not show up. I created it in a Windows icon creator program and named it favicon.ico. I can preview it in Explorer and it shows up correctly but when I upload it to my root directory it does not show up. I have cleared my cached and history. Any ideas?
  20. Ed - You are not alone. I'm a fellow Server79 client here. I was wondering the same thing as you.
  21. I've been a member of this forum for less than a day and already I'm addicted to it. I've learned a tremendous amount today just reading through all the past posts.
  22. Thanks all! Since I posted this topic I did discover the awstats. They are really imformative. Through periodic checking, I have noticed that the information in the General Account Information area of cpanel seems to update about every 6 to 8 hours.
  23. Hi all, I'm new here. I have had my web page up for almost six years but until last week I have never had my own domain for it and have only used free server (with unwanted ads) or my ISP's allotted space. First let me say that I am so pleased that I chose Total Choice as my hosting solution. I have been investigating this for about two years and feel I made the right choice. Signing up for hosting and getting my domain registered was a breeze. I am recommending Total Choice to any one who asks. I do have a couple of questions about bandwidth. One, how often is the current usage updated in the General Account Information area of cpanel? Two, is there a way to get a report that shows my past month's usage? I logged on at 11:06 pm Central Time to look but the servers must be on Eastern Time because they had set back to 0. Thanks!
