TCH-Rob Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Welcome to the forums. I did not catch if you were using your own or our shared SSL. That will make a difference in the URL needed. Quote
GalileoPCS Posted October 2, 2004 Author Posted October 2, 2004 Well I don't have my own so must be shared. but I am guessing on that. and also I have submitted a Ticket for this. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted October 2, 2004 Posted October 2, 2004 Are you using https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com as the SSL server? Quote
GalileoPCS Posted October 3, 2004 Author Posted October 3, 2004 Yes its what it ask to install when I veiw the cert info. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted October 3, 2004 Posted October 3, 2004 Any response from that ticket? You hav me wondering now. Quote
GalileoPCS Posted October 4, 2004 Author Posted October 4, 2004 Figured I get some sort of answer that doesn't explain why the problem accured when I haven't changed anything in the last 2 months. Just make me go out and spend more moneyt Ah! Try https://server72.totalchoicehosting.com/~swgpcsc/index.php? This work for me. The link using https://www.swgpcs.com will not work, unless you purchase a n SSL certifiacte for www.swgpcs.com Actually I suspect it never did work properly. What it would have done would have been using the server72.totalchoicehosting.com certificate. I'd guess that you have upgraded your browser at some stage. Most of the browsers such as IE were very lax about the authentification of certificates. They did not worry if the certificate name did not match the site name. However, due to there being a lot more fraud about now, and people setting up dummy sites for banks etc to try and get you to give your credit card details to them... The browsers are now a lot stricter about how they check that the secure site domain name agrees with the one you have requested. Hence you are getting the errors now. Try the server72 link above, and let me know if you get any errors. Thank you for choosing Total Choice Hosting Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 As far as I know that has always been the case with TCH shared SSL. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/sslpage.htm Quote
TCH-Rob Posted October 4, 2004 Posted October 4, 2004 Try https://server72.totalchoicehosting.com/~swgpcsc/index.php? This work for me. That is what I had asked above; Are you using https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com as the SSL server? Granted, I did not add /~swgpcsc/index.php This is the format when using shared SSL. Dick is right, it has always been this way. If you want https://www.swgpcs.com then you will need your own SSL. Quote
GalileoPCS Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Are you using https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com as the SSL server? https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com is the Cert that installs. I know adding the server""" to the url works. but thats not my point. also removing the "s" from the https:// also works on some of the module links. as for me purchasing a SSL Cert I can understand. but after a year of using TCH as my host. and I have not upgraded anything in the last two months, and TCH has. it just comes across as TCH has caused this problem and I got to spend more money on that I shouldn't have too for this small personel site. as for changing the url. when I install Postnuke it installs the admin urls for the modules on the admin page. thats getting in to script i'm not comfortable changing. any other solutions other than the SSL Certfor my domain? TCH-Rob Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 If you do not want to modify the code to allow it to use https://serverxx then you will need your own SSL. Quote
GalileoPCS Posted October 9, 2004 Author Posted October 9, 2004 Ok I just noticed that if you go my SSL folder under www.swgpcs.com that the files there says Warning! the sslinstall feature has been disabled!.crt is this normal or can it be an issue? the cert that does install is https://server##.totalchoicehosting.com/ not https://server##.totalchoicehosting.com/~user/ ?? which is it supose to be! same question was posten on my help ticket! TCH-Andy Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 Hi, The SSL is just on the domain name - for example, if you were on server 72 then the SSL cert would be for server72.totalchoicehosting.com. To get to files, on your site, in the 'directory' with file name 'file.ext' using the shared SSL you would need to use h**ps://server72.totalchoicehosting.com/~username/directory/file.ext The SSL folder is not something the we install on your account, and if not required by you can be deleted. kjarrett Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Hard to believe this happened to someone else so long ago. This took our site down yesterday. Here's the fix: http://noc.postnuke.com/tracker/index.php?...p_id=5&atid=101 Just in case it happens to anyone else. -kj- Quote
