Go! Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 I'll try not to make my question too lengthy... I want to create a database for the results of a form that I have on my site instead of using the FormMail Clone which I use now. I came to see that FP 2002 would be the easiest method for me to use (I haven't published my site in FrontPage before this, but I want to use it now for Database creation). So using FP2002, I connected to my server hosted by TCH and then went to the Database Interface Wizard in FrontPage, and tried to create a database/form page. But I keep getting this error: "Server error: The Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) library is not available on this server." Even when I just try to create a new ASP and then put a form in it, and try to go to Form Properties, the option for Send to Database is greyed out and can't be selected. I just don't get it. Does anyone possibly have a method by which I can correct this? I reinstalled FP extentions in CPanel to see if that was the cause, but I'm still getting that error. Thanks in advance. Quote
dognamedmoses Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 Go, you need a guru to help you on this problem, but right now you're a victim of MS$ (microsoft) These severs don't do ASP or OBDC as far as I know. But I mean, I could always be wrong. Anyway. I think it would be real easy to accomplish what you're trying to do in PHP, you'll find help in this forum if you ask for it. Gurus! Please help this man! Quote
baseline Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 i agree with dognamedmoses, i think the servers don't use microsoft's asp and microsoft's database stuff. Quote
Lianna Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 ODBC through FP2002 is designed for connection to a server based Access Database. TCH servers are Linux based and therefore cannot use Access (Windows based). ASP, same way. Sorry. Lianna ("It's all about redundant. It's all about saying it again." ) Quote
Go! Posted March 27, 2003 Author Posted March 27, 2003 Yeah, I thought that might be an option. Thank you very much for the assistance everyone. Now it's time to try to figure out some PHP and MySQL stuff. Thanks again. Quote
