YMe369 Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 I hope i posted this in the right thread, but i;ve got a question, about email. I looked in both Neomail and Horde, and i couldnt find anything about receiving mail from a popaccount in webmail. (like in Yahoo), Im not sure but i think Squirellmail (or sumtin like that name) has the function. So my question is is it possible to access my ISP's POP through my websites webmail -reader? (or is it possible to install this 'squirelmail' thing? ) any help will be appreciated,. Quote
Lianna Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Neither Neomail or Horde have the function for collecting additional pop3 account mail. Squirrelmail can and there are some here that have installed it. As I recall, there were some concerns with Squirrelmail...but I don't recall well enough to know what they are! Click the Search link atop any forum page and search for Squirrelmail. You may need to open your search time range to the last several months or even go to the begining. Lianna Quote
YMe369 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 Yeah thanks, i did that, but 1 thing bothers me: PHP 4.3.x is not recommended for use with SquirrelMail at this time. quoted from: http://www.squirrelmail.org and in Cpanel it says im on PHP4.3.1 Quote
rayners Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 That may have been because of the vulnerability in PHP 4.3.0, which has been patched here at TCH. Quote

rayners Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 After looking through some pages at the SquirrelMail site, it appears that some of the newer features in version 1.4 actually require PHP 4.3 or higher. As up-to-date as Head Guru keeps things around here, I don't imagine you have anything to worry about with regards to PHP itself. Quote
KevinW Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 I agree with Rayners. According to the change log for the most recent version, it was tested using PHP 4.3. So the recommendation not to use it on PHP 4.3 was probably due to the security issues, which were addressed in 4.3.1 (see the security link dated March 8th, 2003 under Recent Announcements at the TCH Help Web Site). kw Quote
YMe369 Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 Great, ill give it a try, And as always: Thanks for the quick responce Quote
piotr_redo Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 im quite new to php, etc, and basically implementing something stuff like squirrelmail - i've checked out the squirrelmail.org page but dont know whether this is something that i can implement as a user (techincally possible)? secondly, if so, what path do i take? on the squirrelmail installation page there are several approaches but i wouldn't even know which one to take - InstallingSquirrelMailWindowsApache ? i'm keen on having the ability to download from other POP accounts thus i'd like to have squirrelmail... piotr Quote
Lianna Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 Check this out: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/id98.htm Maybe that will help you out with Squirrelmail installs. Quote
piotr_redo Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 i get this message... "You must run this script from the command line." (when i try to configure squirrelmail in my browser, by going to "squirrelmail/config/conf.pl") any ideas? Quote
