schmuck Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I'm using SmartFTP. It seems that the TCH server has configured to the effect that a connection would be closed after 300 seconds of no transfer. I have already configured SmartFTP to send a signal to the server every 50 seconds to keep the connection alive, but apparently this is of no use. Any way to get around with this? Or is it a server setting intended to cut off FTP connections? Thanks! Quote

schmuck Posted March 22, 2003 Author Posted March 22, 2003 Hi, We have set the servers this way to reduce load and improve security. Understandable, although sometimes it is a bit annoying to connect again and again... Thanks for replying, by the way Quote
KevinW Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 I find the 300 seconds (5 minutes) fairly common among web providers. I happen to use CuteFTP, and it has a nice 'reconnect' icon/button that is very useful in such cases. -kw Quote
