Hi,

I'm a prospective customer, and I have a question about the mailman software -- how many mailman lists can I set up? I'd of course make sure that I purchase enough bandwidth to handle all the mail, it's just that I need a whole bunch of different lists for different groups of people.

Just for all to remember,

being shared hosting

you cannot expect to run huge lists that might slow down the server.

Mailman can be set to send so many and then wait for a while.

Ok. But how much mail will you allow one account to route through your mailservers? (E.g. if I sign up for a deluxe plan, 35 GB of bandwidth/mo, how much of that can be allocated for email)

All of it can be used for mail if you wish. Just remember that if your mailings become excessive resource hogs there may be issues. We are a hosting company not an email company.

Hi -

I have a question about this. One of the recommendations I have received about this was to use a program called Dada Mail to control the number of outgoing messages in a time period. I currently run two Mailman lists (with another hosting company) that each have over 1000 subscribers. Typically, there are about 26 emails sent to these list in a year.

So...I have found the Dada Mail site and read a little about it but it doesn't mention the ability to control how mail is sent out.

If anything has additional information about this, I would really appreciate.

Thanks so much! ;)

Welcom DMD!

Log in as admin to a list and look at

sending options.

scroll down to

SMTP settings...

Enable Batch Sending You must enable batch sending for batch sending to start working.Lists under 100 people may not need it at all.

Send 10 Messages

Every 1 minutes

after sending the 10,

it will pause to the end of the minute before starting again.

Just keep in mind that TCH is primarily a web host, not a mail host. We provide a lot of functionality for mailings, but we do restrict mail to only allow low amounts to be sent over a period of time. If your lists are small or low volume, TCH will likely work well for you. If your lists are large or high volume, however, you may want to consider looking for hosts that specialize in higher volume mailing lists.

I imagine if you do this at night time, it will be less of an issue?

In general, nighttime in the U.S. the servers are under a less load, yes.
