File Disappearing From Server?

I'm installing a php gallery and need to upload an empty text file named .htaccess in /gallery

 

The file uploads, I try to change permissions, but all options are grayed out. Refresh the screen and the file is gone from the server. See no errors for FTP.

Hi,

 

Probably the FTP settings in your FTP client are not showing hidden / system files (which .htaccess is).

 

Try loging into cpanel, file manager, and you should see it there.

 

You should also be able to change permissions, and edit the file there.
