designby Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 Greetings, I have been researching for quite a few weeks and through other references and my own research have found your company to have what I need. I was all ready to transfer, and had checked on one last item, as I always do prior to doing business with a new company: the Better Business Bureau record. I was disappointed to see that there is a standing record of 'unsatisfactory' due to non-response to a client complaint, which belies the overwhelming satisfactory posts to your message boards. As membership in the BBB is strictly voluntary, and they have very specific guidelines for problem resolution, I really must have closure as to why this is. Your online support could not give me any information and asked that *I* provide it. I don't believe that is my responsibility, nor is it possible, as I am not privy to their records, only their publicized reports. I am hoping that someone can help me so I can proceed with my migration to your services. Oh, by the way - your telephone number as listed in your domain's name registrar has been disconnected. I have been searching all over your site for a phone number as I prefer talking to humans, and cannot find one. Where would that be located? Thank you so much, Best regards, Laura M Collins Quote
Head Guru Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 We will not be renewing our Membership with the BBB. They run thier entire business model on "Membership dues". I am not impressed. The unresolved complaint is from a client that was caught attempting to hack into the root of one of our servers. Law enforcement was involved and the investigation has been closed and charges filed against this person. We forwarded all this information on to the BBB and ended our response with "At this time TCH will NOT refund any monies to this former client." If the BBB considers this a bad record then I am not sure what to tell them. As far as the phone number goes. We do not offer any telephone support at all. All of our support is forum, help desk/email based and live chat. Good luck in your search for a new host. Bill Quote
designby Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 Dear Bill, Thank you for your straight answer. I was considering joining the BBB myself, but what you said has piqued my interest to do some further research on them! I think I now have what I need to move forward. Best regards, Laura M.
