dbworm Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Greeting, I just set up Firefox as my default browser (replacing IE). It works fine except that everytime I click on an ex-IE shortcut (now showing the Firefox icon), I get a windows popup saying: "Windows cannot find 'http://www.thesitename' please verify that etc." However, Firefox loads up and displays the site. How can I get rid of this annoyance? Thanks, Dan Quote
borfast Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I do not know the answer to your question, Dan but I'll move your message to the appropriate forum, for better exposure. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 What happens if you delete the shortcut and recreate it? Quote
danceswithscissors Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I'm having the same problem with Firefox. Getting not only the *cannot be found .... * message but Firefox then opens up 2 copies of itself. One with the page loaded and one with a blank page. This only happens when I click on a link in an email. Quote
Deverill Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Sorry for the vague answer here, but I had this kind of thing happen and I fixed it by going to a folder (directory) and going to Tools - Folder Options - File Types and ripping out the IE references that apply. I think the main one is "URL". The one you need is for links to URLs and not just the .htm .html, etc. files. Hope it helps! Quote
