Not sure if its a script Im looking for but I think so...

Lets say someone types jikrantz.se/food.htm in their browser but food.htm does not exist and they get my 404-page. Is it possible to have server or something reporting which page they tried to enter by email?

I think I have seen (but not sure) 404´s saying something like "Thank you, your error-report has been sent".

Thanks Don.

Now I have only two more questions...

That page says...

1) You can choose to receive email on one of three levels: no mail, mail only if the 404 was generated by a link on your own site, or mail warnings of all 404 errors regardless of where the link is located.

Which one is best to receive?

2)sendmail must be installed and running on your system.

Is that installed? I think Don can tell me that since I installed some page named sendmail from him, not sure if this page means same though.

If you guys only knew how much easier my rebuilding of my sites are now after loosing the backups.

They are reffering to sendmail as a php function, which is part of php

not the same as a page by the same name that can processes a form.

I would try the option with all errors reproted at first to see what kind of errors you will see

I figured out this morning, that the option for all errors wasnt too smart, just so anyone else knows that tries this script..

For some reason I was very popular this morning when checking email. ;)

Heh, I could see how getting an email for EVERY 404 error could lead to a TON of email. Punks scaning for things like mail.pl alone will flood you.

You can always go into awstats and check out a list of all 404 errors.
