I know I've seen this discussed but couldn't remember a search term, so I'll ask again.

I received an e-mail with an attachment in my webmail. It was to me@**** from ann@**** Subject +ILikeYou - I've created no such account.

I didn't open it or keep it, which in hindsight I should have I guess, duh! But, my question is do I need to be concerned about this? Is my domain name being used to annoy other people? How is this possible? Is there a way to keep it from happening again?

Thanks for your help. :)

This has nothing to do with your domain. It's just people that use programs to insert fake information into the headers. It is highly unlikely that it is actually coming from your domain. It is very likely that it went to millions of people and it all looked like it came from the respective person.

Just trash it, nothing really to be done. =/

Thanks, Lisa! I didn't have any unaccounted for bandwidth usage, so I knew they hadn't hacked my webmail that way. Gee, maybe I should have seen what it was my domain name was being used to gush all over folks with given the subject "I Like You" :)

You're the best girl - as always, on top o' things! Thumbs Up

OK - I've had 4 more show up today from 4 different nics @****, with 4 different subject lines. I haven't opened them to see what they are, but I kept them this time. All of them are in the same vein "I Like You" "ShyGurl", etc.

If a ton of this crud is being dumped all over the net with an address that appears as if it's from @**** don't I need to worry about ending up on some spam blacklist? There's alot I don't understand here, obviously. ;)

Will they eventually move on to someone else or do I have a permanent parasite? I feel so uuuuuuuused! :( :P :P

Black lists are predominately populated with the offending senders IP address. You should not end up on any black list because of this. It happens to me all the time and I have never had any negative impact because of it.

Well, heck then, if their not going to blacklist you they certainly aren't going to blacklist ME! :( J/K

Thanks, Rob. Thumbs Up
