Virtual Imager Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 I'm not sure this is the correct place to post... but I have what I think is a web design question: I've created a Web Photo Gallery/Slideshow using Photoshop that I'd now like to add to my site. Specifically, it is a gallery of my Arizona images that I'd like to have open in a new window when a link from my Virtual Arizona page is clicked. Photoshop does the following: Photoshop places the following HTML and JPEG files in your destination folder: * A home page for your gallery named index.htm or index.html depending on the Extension options. Open this file in any Web browser to preview your gallery. * JPEG images inside an images subfolder. * HTML pages inside a pages subfolder. * JPEG thumbnail images inside a thumbnails subfolder. I ftp'd all of those folders/files to my public-html file and created the link to index.htm (also tried renaming index.htm to azgallery.htm and creating a link for that). All I get is 404 Not Found errors. What am I doing wrong? VI Quote
Virtual Imager Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 I'm thinking that since Photoshop creates an entire site for the photo gallery, perhaps I should have a 'sub-domain' that I upload a 'new site' to and then link to the new site. Can I do this? Is it expensive or part of my plan now? How exactly doI do it? Can I do it for each gallery I want to create? Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 (edited) You can make a folder or subdomain In cpanel you create the subdomain, which will create the folder. then ftp to it as a folder. so the subdomain.domanin.ext is a shortcut to the folder domain.ext/subdomain and where you will ftp to. Virtual Imager Posted July 12, 2004 Author Posted July 12, 2004 Thanks, Don... but it looks like I won't need to do the sub-domains. And thanks, Rob. You're the best! I had to make some changes to the captions and stuff, and I thought I lost everything, but I actually got the revision uploaded! There are still some changes and customizations I'd like to make when I learn how.... but, it's a good basic gallery and was very easy to create using Photoshop. Check them out!! All feedback welcome and appreciated: New Americana Gallery New Arizona Gallery VI Quote
