Alright, so I'm trying to move an invision board forum over to the new server. I backup the SQL file, and select "restore" under the backup option in the cpanel. The gzip file is 34MBs, so I give it sometime to upload. I gave it all night infact, but it eventually just sits at the "restoring database" img thing for the entire night.

Is there a better way to do this or am i going about it all wrong? Is it possible to send the database file in via FTP, which would seem to be more efficient. Thanks any help would be appreiciated.

Just to add - what has been suggested before is you ftp up the file and when you submit a ticket, let them know the location/name of the file to be imported - then the techs can run it locally so that there are no timeout issues. =)

 Welcome to the Family puffxy :P

and your new home!

Did you make the back up for your database in cpanel > backup >

then under

Download a MySQL Database Backup

click the database name to download a database.gz file

which you can upload on the same page in the

Restore a MySQL Database upload box.

This is all you need.

If you made the backup in MySql then you need to restore it there also.

We really are like family here.

So if you need anything,

just ask your new family!

We love to help :)

Before I do that, could someone estimate how long it would take to restore an SQL database file roughly 200MB in size, AFTER the inital upload?

Well, I submited the ticket and uploaded the database.. anyone got any idea of how long it'll take?

and thanx for the warm welcome everyone :)

The last reply to your ticket requested the name of the database you want the data imported into. Once we have that information it should not take long but we will need to watch and be sure the server load is low before we import.
