JohnGB Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 Hi ! I´m looking for Dedicated Server. What´s the diffrence betwen Semi-Dedicated And Dedicated in your dedicated server solutions ? http://totalchoicehosting.com/web-hosting-dedicated.html Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 Semi-Dedicated Servers are shared with no more than four clients. Dedicated is all yours. Quote
MikeJ Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 The best way to look at it is this: A semi-dedicated server is basically just a high level reseller account. You have the exact same setup, just the number of TCH customers on the server is limited. It still falls under the same limitations as all shared hosting does, as it is shared with other people. A dedicated server is your box. You have full root access. You can run anything on it (including streaming media, voice servers, games, etc...) that doesn't violate TCH's TOS and AUP. CPU utilization you can use to your heart's content as you are the only user on the box (well, only TCH customer on the box, if you resell accounts). Quote
JohnGB Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Hi Rob, Thansk for your answer. If I take a semi-dedicated server Do I have the server status service? Can I host multiple domains like in reseller service? What are the benefits of taking semi-dedicated and not reseller? Quote
JohnGB Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Ok... Mike answered my question. Conclusion: semi-dedicated server has better response than reseller... you don´t know HOW MANY people are in a reseller server rigth?? Quote
TCH-Dick Posted June 10, 2004 Posted June 10, 2004 Ok... Mike answered my question. Conclusion: semi-dedicated server has better response than reseller... you don´t know HOW MANY people are in a reseller server rigth?? Not neccesarily, A semi-dedicated server can have more accounts on it than a normal reseller server,(and vice versu) it just depends on the number of resold accounts. If I order a semi dedicated I can resell as many accounts as my space allows Quote
JohnGB Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 mm ok.. I think i´m going to do some tests with a reseller account. Thanks for your help. Quote
