I was proud user of a Sony Vaio PCG-F690, old and reliable laptop.

I was using wi-fi high speed connection, from my pc-mcia port.

The problem is that now, having a new HP Pavillion 820A, l can't find a pc-mcia adapter in italian stores to be installed in a pc. It seems only laptops can use this kind of devices!!!

I understand l can't use a pc like a laptop, walking around the house with my internet connection active, but when it is the only way to get connected it becomes a problem. I have now about 6 meters fiber cable crossing my livingroom, not so nice, does not match with my forniture :)

Do you have any suggestion of online stores where l can apply to?

Thanks!

Blackcat, you have several options. You can purchase a PCM-CIA Network adaptor card for the PC, I purchased a couple awhile back to save costs, I used the PCM-CIA card in both the Laptop and the PC. I got it from Belkin for $10.

Or you card purchase a wireless PCI card. Most Netwok campanies carry these.

MWave seems to be a pretty good store. I don't know anything about your specific connection, but I have about the same amount of cable crossing my living room! I know I need to get router and wireless card for my pc...just can't afford it right now!!!! MWave offers pretty good prices once you find out what you need!!

Sob... they do not ship international

Sad part is that due to high fraud and no way to easily combat it from overseas many companies do not ship overseas. UK web shops might though since you are still in the neighborhood.

By the way, who makes your wi-fi device?

Uhm... it is the wi-fi device of my internet provider, Fastweb.

If l don't make a mistake, should be a US Robotics, now l'm at work :)

They are both Wi-Fi compliant and it does say Easy to expand with other wireless network devices. USR is a pretty big name so compatibility should be there. All I did was go to google.it and look up wireless network card, advance search to only give results in Italian. It is taking some wading through because I cant read the language but you should be able to find something.
