Boojum Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Greetings (to all who remember me) and apologies for the protracted absence (a busy time it's been). My question: I noticed, in setting up my subdomains in CPanel, that there was some language about setting up separate usernames and passwords for the various subdomains. This leads me to wonder: Do I need to use them, or are they just an option for added security, or to allow different people to upload to specified subdomains? (I would prefer, if possible, to keep it simple for now and just upload everything into the primary domain [in public_html] and the subdomain folders at one fell swoop. I have no one else working on the site to date, so would hope this procedure would suffice. But will it?) Quote
TCH-Rob Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 If you are going to let everyong see everything in all subdomains and are the only one doing the uploads then no you do not need to pasword protect anything. Quote
Boojum Posted May 18, 2004 Author Posted May 18, 2004 Merci beaucoup, Rob. Saves me a lot of work I greatly prefer to avoid. Quote
DarqFlare Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 Boojum... The way to setup passwords and whatnot for subdomains is to just setup an FTP user, using the subdomain name for the folder name. If you don't care, then you can give the full FTP access to everybody, and anyone that FTPs in will have full access to every subdomain. Quote
