Road Runner Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 Just a couple of presale questions. If I have software installed on one server can I access the db on the server here? I have used MySQL like this in the past all I needed to do is put the wildcard % in the Remote Host configuration box in the cpanel. Is this possible here @ TCH? If so what would the server name be? Road Runner Posted May 15, 2004 Author Posted May 15, 2004 Read that prior to posting ... it didn't help, doesn't answer my questions. I'm not looking to run the software from my computer and I'm sure I won't need to configure a port. Quote
Road Runner Posted May 17, 2004 Author Posted May 17, 2004 So I'm going have to sign up and rely on the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee to find out? Guess it's a small price to pay. BTW No shell access? Security reasons perhaps? Quote
TCH-Rick Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 I'm not sure we understand exactly what you want to do. You can set up an Access host in Cpanel as you have described and access the database from your home machine. It is also possible to access from another site but I advise caution as I have seen problems with server loads. We do not allow SSH for security reasons. Quote

Actually what I'm trying to do is find a low cost alternative to running a couple of development/test sites for some "live" scripts I have. I don't imagine I should have a problem with server loads. Nikki Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 Hi. I had this same problem, and putting % as a wildcard did not work for me either. I put my sever ip address in there and I can access the datebase from my computer and with Dreamweaver. Maybe that will work for you too. Quote
