gabeanderson Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 I'm in the process of migrating my site over to TCH from another host. My site is database-driven and uses Movablet Type XHTML stylesheets. Here's what my site should look like (appears OK in both IE and Netscape): http://www.gabeanderson.com Here's the strange part: When I go to my home page on TCH servers, the page does not fully load in IE 6 SP1. It gets cut off below my "welcome" paragraph and at the end of the quote in the "random quote" section in the right-hand nav: http://server16.totalchoicehosting.com/~gabeand/ If I go directly to the page or refresh it, I actually see the rest of the page flash for an instant, then disappear. Strange, right? This behavior is not present in Netscape. It gets stranger: If I go to another site (in IE), then go back here, the page loads normally. But if I refresh, same thing again -- only the top portion of the page loads. I have deleted cookies, temp. files, installed latest version of IE, restarted my browser, machine, etc. Any thoughts? First question would be if any of you are able to replicate this problem? That would at least tell me the problem is with my machine/browser and not something strange going on with my code and/or something specific to TCH server that happened during migration. Thanks in advance. Any input would be greatly appreciated. -Gabe Quote
twowheels Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Both pages look the same to me in IE 6 on WinXP SP1 as well as in Opera 7. Quote
gabeanderson Posted March 5, 2003 Author Posted March 5, 2003 Thanks for the input, twowheels. I just tested on another machine running IE6 and it looks fine here, so I guess the problem is on my end. Good to know. Thanks, Gabe Quote
KevinW Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 just checked it from my system Windows XP Pro with IE6 SP1 - no problems! -kw Quote
kellybellydotnet Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Here's a thread on the MT forums that might help. I had a similar problem, and the last solution presented helped the most, and was the easiest. Hope it helps! Quote
Lianna Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Hey Kelly! Long time no see, lady! Don't be a stranger, k? Lianna Quote
kellybellydotnet Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Hey Lianna! I've actually been around ... I prefer lurking as opposed to posting, since it keeps me from saying something stupid! Quote
gabeanderson Posted March 23, 2003 Author Posted March 23, 2003 cool! thanks very much, kelly. this fix worked great: ><div style="clear:both;"></div> ..at the end of my templates, just before the </body> tag. thanks again, gabe Quote
KevinW Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 To all: the line of code that gabe provided apparently fixes a known bug with IE in interpreting CSS commands. There are several other known "quirks" with IE and CSS! -kw Quote
