-

Thanks Thomas, Again, the transfer was ok, but the site isn't there, just the same "Directory of". And I scanned with Norton, nothing detected. Maybe something wrong in the "Profile" : Profile Name: Default Export Destination: My Webhost(FTP) I guess the password was ok, since I changed it right after I received the welcome email.

Appreciate your help tomowa and marie b. ! Unfortunately it didn't work. I do get a message that all files were transfered correctly. But right in the beginning, 3 seconds after I start the uplod, Microsoft Antispyware pops up asking me if I want to continue blocking the...whatever... so I click "unblock", and then somewhere in the middle Norton Antivirus gave me its own message that a worm was detected...;-).... they are trying to "help" me...;-) I guess , they both might be a reason ? I'll try again now, with both OFF.

Thank you Marie, I tried and got an error: "unable to set directory to www.uniquedesignsbyella.com" So, I put my domain in both: "Remote Publish Directory" and under "Host Name" ? is it correct ? maybe something wrong with the password...
-
I tried to publish and I'm probably doing something wrong... Here is what I enter into the FTP portion of my website building software: 1. Remote Publish Directory: http://www.uniquedesignsbyella.com 2. FTP Login Name: Host Name - http://www.totalchoicehosting.com (or IP - was in the welcome email) 3. User name and Password - was in the welcome email, but I changed the password right away. 4. Remote Port - 21 ( it was already there ) The error says that something wrong with the password or name...couldn't connect... Something else: when I click "Browse" under "Remote Publish Directory" I get this: "FTP connection error: unable to connect to: "http://www.totalchoicehosting.com" Please make sure the host, user name, password and port are correct. Last Error: The password was not allowed " Thanks! Something is not right ? :-)

Hi, I've registered with TCH on Tuesday and published my site yesterday(Wednesday). A couple of hours ago, it showed up, but just an "Index of" with "parent directory".."images"...etc. Did I do anything wrong ? Or I need more time for the website to show up ? Thank you! sorry...here is the site: www.uniquedesignsbyella.com

Thank you Paul! :-)

So, if I give you all the DNS info, can I upload these few pages tomorrow ? When to send them cancellation ? Tomorrow as well ?
-
That's until the end of June. I have few pages ready to publish
-
Thanks Steve, That's what I thought. So, just to leave the site there and it will dissapear after a week or so ?
-
Hi everybody, I'm going to signup today or tomorrow morning. One little question: I have my website on the old host. I'm building right now a new site, which some of the pages I can publish now. Should I transfer the old website to TCH, or just to send the old host a note about cancellation and publish part of the new site here ? If I need anything from old site, I have all the files on my computer. Totaly new site will probably lower my ranking on Google and other search engines. But I didn't profit from "ranking" anyway, and I guess to start totally new is better ? Thanks!

I thank everybody for the great patience you had with my IP "game" :-) Now I'm going to sign up with TCH.
-
Very good Groovyfish ! I'm glad you put to the end my obsession with IP and cleared up for everybody who are looking and will be looking in the future about this issue. I'm really relieved now

Rick, I wasn't checking their prices and I didn't even know that they sell hosting. I got there thru a search on Yahoo for "Dedicated IP" straight to the link above. What if to ask Google about that ?
-
hm...I see...makes sense :-) but what about Reverse Lookup by Google ?
-
I searched google for any reference to this, and could find nothing. Can you give me a link to anything on this please? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I found the the list of 5 reasons of having Unique IP on this site: http://www.4-better-business.com/default.a...P_address.htm#2 The owner is Tina Simpson - it's on a bottom of About Us page. Try to contact her to get more details, if you're interested. Because her list of the reasons to have Unique IP got me thinking and now bothers me too much...oy vei

Thank you Rick, Forgive me for being "obsessed" with "UniqueIP" :-) But the guy who expressed his opinions on this sounds very realistic. Your site is not affected, but maybe many others' is affected, and nobody suspects that the reason might be the Shared IP and it will be really hard to know Google just starting with the "Reverse DNS Lookup" and I'm sure it will affect many websites. Probably Yahoo and Microsoft will soon introduce something similar. Today IP is 10 digits(?), tomorrow will be 12 digits and it will be enough for all.
-
Hi groovyfish (what a name!;-) ) I guess you're right. But in my last post I was talking about importance of having Unique IP, somebody else's point of view. It sounds very logical in light of increasing Filtering, Blocking and various Anti-Spyware and AntiSpam applications being deployed to protect websites' integrity, email and ISP's protection. So, having your own Unique IP adds to your Domain protection and your website's protection. Plus when dealing with search engines and especially Google with their Reverse DNS Lookup. Interesting what other people think about that ?
-
According to www.4-better-business.com the Reasons to have Unique IP: 1. Your Domain name should match your IP address. Google is using a "reverse DNS(domain name system) lookup" to verify sites before they are indexed. The lookup provides ability to locate a domain name using a Host IP address. Websites with Domain names that don't match their IP address are either rejected or penalized. 2. The DNS Spam Blacklist. If a website is on the same IP address as another website which spams, then ISPs might delete mail coming from the "good" websites. 3. More and more filters are being used based on the basis of the IP address used to host controversial content. It can result in overblocking. I'm afraid that these arguments are becoming accurate and they sound very logical with increased filtering and blocking. Would you offer Dedicated IP for an additional small fee ? Thanks!

Try Mals-e. Everybody who use it are very happy. I myself going to use it.
