  1. I've found spamassassin to be quite helpful - WHEN IT"S TURNED ON AT TCH! Every few weeks I wake up to find 40-50 spam messages in my inbox. Spamassassin is enabled on by site, but it isn't filtering the messages. A trouble ticket or two gets it fixed, but the cycle then starts all over again. I have accounts on two different servers, but only see this on 76. Wouldn't be so bad if it was just me, but my "customers" get the same barrage, so I in turn get a second or third dose from them. Thanks for allowing me to vent.
  2. I've applied several phpBB mods and still have a spamming problem, albeit diminished. My thought was to apply a multi-tiered approach by banning IPs from the web site as well as the bulletin board. I guess if I can't ban a range of IP addresses, it will be more trouble than performing a daily purge of the member list. Changing the names of the guestbook addentry and user registration helped. I'll work on a similar mod to the bulletin board. Thanks
  3. The IP numbers I used above are only examples. The spamming problems are associated with my phpBB, not email. I'd like to just keep these undesirables completely out of my web sites. Therefore, I want to ban ranges of IP addresses. What would the syntax be for that?
  4. Like many of us, I too am experiencing increasing spam. I noticed in the cPanel that IP addresses can be blocked by range. As an example, I'm having problems with 999.88.77.601. I'd like to block 999.88.77.601 through 999.88.77.699. What's the syntax for such?
  5. Just updated from 2.0.18 to 2.0.21 Thanks for the info posted here. Task was PAINLESS
  6. Done - Ticket submitted (low priority) Thanks Rob!
  7. My account on server 76 has cPanel X and Fantastico. My account on server 53 has cPanel and NO Fantastico. The cPanel interfaces on the two servers are different and, at least one menu item (Fantastico) doesn't exist on the older (I assume older) interface on server 53. Should I be patient and assume server 53 will be "upgraded" or should I bug the help desk again with a trouble ticket?
  8. I currently have pocketman.com hosted at TCH, with pocketman.ws parked. I want to switch the domain names so that the primary domain is pocketman.ws, with pocketman.com parked. If I understand the above posts, I should submit a ticket to technical support to get this accomplished? The tech people have been very responsive to my past needs, but I don't want to bother them for something I can or should do through another means. Thanks
  9. I've experienced the same "Warning" messages after upgrading Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1 to 2.3.3. It appears the $phpbb_root_path is not being set correctly in the index.php. Is there any advice on this before I go in and try to correct the path myself?
  10. OH! - That would explain why I am still receiving the junk. Thanks
  11. I just changed the default unrouted email to :fail I disabled my guestbook yesterday. I'm not sure I have the latest version but will make sure I upgrade and change the password when I bring it back on line. I submitted a trouble ticket a few days ago and the help desk didn't note any unusual activity. I may ask them again if this doesn't subside in a few days. I am not surprised to learn others are experiencing this. Some people just need to get lives and quit messing with ours. Thanks for the help.
  12. Some enterprising individual has "hijhacked" my domain name and sent out, who knows how many, emails infected with the W32.Sober.O2mm virus. The culprit has even gone so far as to add a "virus free" statement at the bottom of the message. Many of these infected emails get bounced back to mostly invalid addresses at my domain. Therefore I get "my" infected emails sent back to me. Using cPanel, I have set the default to :blackhole all unrouted email, yet they still keep showing up in my mailbox. Is there something else I need to do to dump these messages? The second, and probably more important, issue is how did this happen? Is my email address just being used or are they actually going through my domain and TCH's server? I can only imagine how many people think I zapped their systems with these infected emails.
  13. Raul - You may have helped much more than three days' worth of reading and attempting to get Dada Mail working. Dada Mail may not be the solution I'm looking for. Perhaps my time would be better spent configuring Mail Man. Thank you.
  14. These are error messages I am receiving: Premature end of script headers: /home/gbulrpdh/public_html/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi File does not exist: /home/gbulrpdh/public_html/www.inssar.org/favicon.ico favicon.ico exists, but it's up a couple levels in the directory tree. It appears I have a configuration issue. Is Dada Mail that much better than Mail Man?
  15. I am having the exact same experience as described in this thread. I thought I followed the instructions. $FILES = '/home/mysitename/dada_files'; $MAILPROG = '/usr/sbin/sendmail'; $PROGRAM_URL ='http://www.mydomain.org/cgi-bin/dada/mail.cgi'; I upload the DADA folder and all contents - ASCII Set permissions as instructed Do not see any apparent upper-lower case discrepancies When accessing mail.cgi I receive a 404 error. Having perused several threads with this same question, I am
  16. Apparently it's working as expected. I adhusted the priorities and get a little better results. Thanks for your help. I have a Mac (IE 5.0?) user who reports not seeing the banner images. Are there browser setting that would effect this. Do not CGI scripts run entirely on the server?
  17. Using cPanel, I've set up an Entropy Banner on one of my web pages. I have three images which seem to randomly appear when loading the web page. Should they not rotate while the page is displayed? Is there a parameter that I've not properly set?
