    Thank your TCH-David for your time. However unfortunatly using this line in the .htaccess isnt an option. The issue i am having dificulting understanding is this: I have buit a login system, and i as a test i have disabled cookies in my browser. However a session is still being created, and my user can login. The session id is not in the url. They then can't browse other pages which use the same code to check for $_SESSION['login_id']; SO why can the session get created in the first place without browser cookies. (I have checked and no cookies are being created.) Thanks

    Hi, As the title really, i want to force cookies instead of session id's in the url. I am using ini_set('session.use_trans_sid', 0); but when i check afterwards, it tells me its still set to 1. Any reasons why ?

    Hi section31, It looks like we are both trying to achieve similar things. I am looking for a php method to extract bandwidth stats, also external of the cpanel. I am looking hard, maybe we should pool ideas if either of us come up with anything. Happy hunting. G_N

    Sorry, should give you a clarification. I would like to know the path name to the Raw access logs. That way i can then, do some calulations in order to work out how much bandwidth has been used in that month. Thanks for your time

    Hi there, I have decided to offer a graphical/ textual report on the amount of bandwidth a customer has used so far in that given month. Just like the one avaliable to us in the cpanel. But i want it external to the cpanel. So my question is really, which files on the server do i need to reference in order to calcualte bandwidth usage. With this information, i can get into some heavy duty php writing. Any thoughts ?? Take Care G_N

    Hello there, I had to buy my .co.uk domain names from another company because at the time, tch did not offer this service. So i bought my .co.uk's knowing that the company i bought them with allows, url redirection/forwarding. However..... The method they employ is to view the .com through a frameset when visiting the .co.uk. A method that i am not personally satified with. I have contacted the company in question and they will not change the method. They did send me some code that breaks out of frames. ><script language="JavaScript">if (parent.frames.length > 0) { parent.location.href = location.href } </SCRIPT> But i had already implemented something similar in the <body> tag: ><body onload="if(top.frames.length>0)top.location='http://www.THEDOMAIN.com';"> Now, my worry is that i will get peanlised by search engines for doing this. Secondly i "personally" dont want frames in any of the work i do. Thirdly, search engine dont like frames that much. Various other reasons. Really wouyldnt it be better to have the domain actually directly point to the correct ip address ? eg. THEDOMAIN.com is on ip 123.456.789.000, so THEDOMAIN.co.uk should also point to 123.456.789.00 ? The company in question is a very well respected one in the UK, but if they can not accomodate y need maybe i should look elsewere. If tch offered transferes of .co.uk, i would make it happen today, but they dont at present. Does anybody know of a reason for this ? Technical issue ? I am a bit of a perfectionist, and i want my setups to be "ideal" not "ok". Just me Your comments and queries are much apprecaited. Take Care All G_N

    You have some very valid points. I am looking at the alternatives, i dont really want to spend money on something that will only generated very simple files. Do you have any experience with any form of dynamic pdf creation ?? Thanks G_N

    not sure this is the right forum, but ill try anyway, be sure to move it if i am doing wrong. I need to create pdf files dynamically using php. I have been told that its do-able, http://uk2.php.net/pdf When i try there example script, it fails, so i am guessing this is not installed/compiled in by default. Is there another way, or can i install something that will help me out ?? Many Thanks G_N

    i can still use that if myconnections reside in the the folder above public_html ??? the folder that lists: etc mail public_html public_ftp tmp myconnections.php this is were i am trying to put my connections file as i thought it would be the safest thanks G_N

    Hi, I have created my website around php and it all works/worked fine, untill i decided it was a good idea to move my file containing my databse password and connections settings to **** instead of it residing in ****/html_public Naturally i changed all my other files that refereced this file. eg files that reside in html_public had include 'myconnections.php'; became include '../myconnections.php' and for the most part it works fine, but i have really big issue with a file that references it in html_public/exampledir/ with include '../../myconnections.php' it just does like it , i dont get the usual, cant find it error, i get Warning: main(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(../../../myconnections.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/MYUSERNAME:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/ypgympj/public_html/exampledir/checks.php on line 4 ive been told its something todo with the configuration, but this is were i need your help. What do i do from here Thoughts much appreciated. Take Care G_N

    Hi there, i am using php and wish to view the ip address of a visitor. I notice that when in the cPanel it gives my ip address and its bang on, but when i use $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"]; in my own code, its not the same. I think the php code above shos my ISP Proxy IP Address. This is not my actuall ip. How can i get the accuracy that cPanel shows?? Is there something else i need to do to this php function ??     Hi, Ive been playing with my account and installing and uninstalling BB's etc and cant remember what folders/files are meant to be in the public_html folder and what doesnt. I dont currently have any BB installed anymore, i use a sql database and thats about it, whats the minimum directory/file listing. ?? Thanks, i can now clean up my space and get down to some serious work.

    Well i am sorry to waste people time on this, it was working locally and tested on win98 and firefox and it worked. It only doesnt work when i use firefox under linux. ie on 98 works no problem (live that is) So the code works, must be a setting under my firefox browser thats doing it. Thanks

    hi, not sure this is in the right forum but hay here goes I built a little working php system locally, making it live by uploading to my host and it doesnt seem to want to work , its a very simple system so its easy to work out were the problem is. after a few echo lines, it turns out its not setting session variables. but your link here http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/info.php says that its session are enabled ?? Have i missed something obvious again ?? Any suggestions ? Thanks G_N
