Tracy, Hi I am using IE 6, a while back I had a had a problem with a file in norton and had to uninstall it I have been relying on the default firewall installed by microsoft I think. One of those situations where you put something off and it never gets done. This all may have something or all to do wwith it thanks I had forgotten about that, it had slipped my mind. I will have a look a cpanel and phpmyadmin from another location and do the required repairs and see what happens. Sorry it took so long to reply I had to have some sleep. Mike

Hello Raul I really didn't think that there was a folder inside file manager but thought it might be worth a shot. I thought it was internal to the server. and yes I have been trying to access it in cpanel either from the first page in cpanel or after i click on mysql and go to the bottom of the page and click phpmyadmin all I get is a blank page it is under there but it is blank to the browser when I right click and go to view source the code is there for it but when I go back to the window it is blank. Mike

Hi all This may be a silly question but do yall have a phpmyadmin folder in your file manager in cPanel. All I get when I go to phpmyadmin is a blank screen. When I veiw source I can see the source code but nothing on the screen. If it keeps up at this pace I will have to control mysql using php only. I have enter a help ticket twice and the reply both time was it is working fine It is like the permissions are set wrong, it is still invisible to me. Mike

Hi Robert I had put in a help ticket about 2 weeks ago on a issue with awstats not updating for a week, at the same time I asked about phpmyadmin, they checked and said there didn't seem to be any problem with it. Maybe there is still something that I am missing I'll keep looking. It just seems to me that something is broken I get the full path to phpmyadmin in my browser but the screen is blank. Thanks for looking Mike

Things aren't working right and I think it was me but can't find info on it anywhere. Let me start from the beginning I signed on two months ago and I was playing around with c-panel checking it out, I went into mysql created a db I went into phpmyadmin all looked fine didn't add tables or anything. Wasn't to long I went back into mysql playing around again checking things out and I hit repair on the db ever since then when I go to phpmyadmin there is nothing all I get is a blank page I'm sure I did something wrong. Ok so I figure I don't know enough about this stuff so I have been reading all I can about mysql, php and related items ok now I feel I have a fair amount of knowledge but with no phpmyadmin that is on screen in order to enter my info I feel stuck is there any advice as to what I may heve done wrong. Thanks in advance Mike

Thanks Jim That sounds like what I was missing. I'll give that a try tomight and let you know what happens Mike

Hi it's me again Here is the situation I am working my way around all 4 sides of the page, all to be built using includes. There will be a header include, a footer include they will basically stay the same unless I need to make changes logo or whatever. In the left and right there are columns, the infomation in these will be fixed length and I want it to stay at the top of the column. The way it is now when I fill in the center of the page which will very the length of the right and left columns, the text in the columns centers to the length of the columns. I want the text to alway's stay at the top of the columns. Here is the test page that I am testing with http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/Untitled-1.php Here's what happens when the center of the page is long http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/Untitled-2.php Here is the file for the left column. <div id="Layer9" style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:30px; width:150px; height:733px; z-index:9; background-color: #669999; layer-background-color: #669999; border: 1px none #000000; visibility: visible;"> <p> </p> <p><font size="5">Product Categories</font> </p> <p><font size="2"><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/candleaccess.php">Candle Accessories</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/animalfigurines.php">Animal Figurines</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/incenseburners.php">Incense Burners</a> <br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/scentedoils.php">Scented Oils</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/collectibles.php">Collectibles</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/homedec_int.php">Home Decor-Interior</a> <br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/sculptures.php">Sculptures</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/artwork.php">Artwork</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/jewelry.php">Jewelry</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/personalaccess.php">Personal Accessories</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/bathroomdecor.php">Bathroom Decor</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/clocks.php">Clocks</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/home-officedecor.php">Home & Office Decor</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/huntingknives.php">Hunting Knives</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/gardenaccess.php">Garden Accessories</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/swords.php">Swords</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/kitchenaccess.php">Kitchen Accessories</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/cookware.php">Cookware</a><br> <a href="http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/tools.php">Tools</a></font></p> </div> Would it be as simple a converting the layer to a table in DW when the page is short to hold it and then create a new layer under ist to do the auto stretching. Any ideas Thanks Mike

Thanks All I got it and it was my mistake. And you all helped me to figure it out. What I had done is to added the code to the design view and not to the code view so it was my fault and I feel stupid. It must be time to go to bed. thanks for the help Mike

Thanks for taking a look. At this point it has me too. And when you look at it in veiw source it looks even more funny that may be a PHP thing. As many pages as I plan on having, database generated pages is the only way to go. I hate to think of having to manage it any other way. Thanks for the look though Mike

I know this is probably just a mistake on my part but I have SSI's working fine using php file's or includes. I am going through some of the tutoriols on PHP and one of them is the current time test page. What I am getting back is the whole body of the page including the switch to PHP and all. <p>This page was created at <b> <?php echo date("h:i:s a", time()); ?> </b> on the computer running PHP.</p> The page is located at http://www.giftdealsgalore.com/timetest.php It doesn't seem to be running through the app server or is there just something I am missing. Thanks in advance Mike

Hi Natimage I am in the process of double checking the install of Apache, Mysql php and Phpadmin now, every thing seems to be ok but I did find one spot that said something about on the previous uninstall there may have been a problem with the overwrite. If there are otherthings that I must do to tweak the install I am looking for them now. Do I have to maybe go in and change things to work right correctly I have had a good mornings sleep now and over the weekend hopfully will come to a better understanding of the whole process. As far as the settings for the testing server no I am not 100% sure neither. still looking. Thanks Mike

Hello Everybody, I am new to TCH and databases. What I am doing is building a new site that will be using mysql and phpadmin to generate dynamically. I have downloaded apache, mysql and phpadmin to my local machine created a test database and table. In DWMX VER. 6 I have created an insert form to load the info into the database. In the Mysql Connection Box- I named the connection (insertdata), Mysql server: (http://localhost/), username, password, then when I get to database I called it products hit select and it came back error 404 1. testing server doesn't map to http://localhost/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php URL. Verify that prefix maps to the root of the site or 2. There is no testing server running on the server machine. My question i do I have to go into the Apache Server and map from that to the root of the site or is there something else that I am missing. Thanks Mike Any help would be appreciated just a little nudge.

Hi all I am new to dreamweaver as I am to most all of this. I am using a 2002 DWMX ver. 6 or 7. I went through the tutorial for your first dreamveaver site this last week, of course the site that I will be developing will be a lot larger and in the end will be using php and mysql. In the site definition box did all of that ftp connection, then ftp.mysite.com, user name, pw, test connection all worked fine. Then came Testing files Part 2, Sites root folder, What url would you use to browse to the root of your site then it gave the example http://server one/root folder/ then it gives you a test url button. This is when I came back to the forum and read a post from earlier today talking about ssh and it said you could not but you could hook up securely at cpanel by using this. You can connect securely to cpanel using https://server##.totalchoicehosting.com:2083/ and then use file manager in a secure mode My question is which is the correct answer in my situation DW example or yours options have been underlined. Thanks in advance Mike
