I've created an email newsletter for a client - all addresses are voluntary. I'm sending html embedded in the email to myself. It is sent through a TCH dynamic IP mail server client of mine and is sent to another TCH mail server with Spam Assasin turned on. I did enable that cgi wrapper earlier, but have no idea how to use it! In fact, I'm in over my head right now and don't have hours to invest in this single app. I was installing Phormation to simplify/expedite creating Phorms . . . ha ha. My first question was how to: Running from the browser, the installer **MUST** be run under your user ID. You guys know how to do this? If so, I can probably run the install. If not, I'm just going to drop this for now. thanks!

Sorry, I failed to clarify. I did exactly as you described, entered a valid reg key and it took me to the phninstall.php screen, said something like "program registered". The next step is to refresh the phninstall.php screen which should evoke a download and install process. There was an error statement "cannot install" or something like that on the first attempt. Subsequent attempts resulted in a blank screen. That's when I posted here. I deleted the old files and uploaded new files in a fresh directory. After entering the reg key I go to phninstall.php and it says "unable to create". Evidently the first registration made a permanent change somewhere. I believe that all I have to do is access the install file using user/pw to get it to install. Can you clarify the Browser URL/command line to do that?

I have had intermittent disconnect problems while uploading. They seem to be getting worse. The upload starts fine and then disconnects from the server. I've seen a number of different messages, most often: "unknown socket error" Sometimes I get an error "cannot connect, too many users connected". I'm the only person using these accounts. I hope to sell turnkey web sites that use php/mySQL and require some setup. These will use a newly purchased domain name, or it will be supplied by the client. I want to set up the account on the server, install php apps, and then, at a later date, direct a domain name to that account. How can I do that with cpanel?

I will provide any info you request. Thanks for helping. I used the user/pw/dbname found in the cpanel under mysql just after I created the db (triple checked). After creating the db, I did not use the "add user" and "add host" at the bottom of the screen. I assume those are for additions. Using "localhost" as the "Database Server" results in the error message above. Using anything else results in "database not found." So maybe "localhost" is correct, but something else is wrong. I'm installing the vwar php script which uses a mySQL db. I created the db, uploaded files, set permissions and ran the install.php. The result is an error. I looked up the error in the vwar faq and the problem (evidently) is that I used the wrong localhost. Permissions are correct. What localhost should I use? That was my first thought, but I dismissed it because sometime in the past I worked on a server that would override/replace the POP account if you set up a forwarder with the same name. As I set up the forwarder the Cpanel confirmed and then stated something similar to just that. Anyway, it works great and the forwarded email retains the original sender, just what we want.

My client has a home computer and business computer and needs to replicate his business emails on both computers. To date he has selected "leave copy on server" and turns it off every once-in-a-while to clear the server. I would like to automate the process. Using a filter in Outlook to forward all messages doesn't work because the "from" is the original business address and not the person that sent the email. Is there an option in cpanel to auto forward all emails from an email account to another?

I haven't seen this posted in faq/forum and think it will be helpful for future reference. Thanks to tch Aromal for helping me diagnose this issue. My user accounts (/cpanel) passwords included a "+" character. When creating a new phpbb forum it uses the existing /cpanel user/pw. The forums do not allow the "+" character (and I assume other special characters) but gives no warning during creation of the forum. Consequently, I could not log into the new forum to admin. Eliminating these characters from your account/cpanel pw BEFORE creating the forum should avoid any problems.

Thanks for the info. I created a new user and attached to the sql db, but still cannot log in. I've had pw problems in another forum under my reseller account. After creating the forum I couldn't log in. A TCH moderator had to set up the account. I'm afraid something is screwed up in my reseller account. I created a second and then third forum under this account and cannot log into either of them using the /cpanel user/pw. Same problem as before. I need someone on your end to check it out. Should I take this to another topic area, or can you help me out? thanks.

A client changed and forgot the phpbb forum admin pw. As a reseller, can I recover this somehow?

SOLUTION: Changing the SMTP port to 26 on the tch account worked. AOL was routing SMTP requests to port 25 through their server.
